Lucas's POV

Quickly I snuck into the infirmary. I had to grab my midnight and get out.

June stood in front of Clarissa writing down things.

Reaching for the nearest needle I could find, I lifted it to her neck and stabbed June. Her body froze and collapsed to the floor.

Stepping over the woman's body I made my way to midnight. She was covered by a thin sheet with a bandage around her head.

Removing the needles and chords from her body I picked up Clarissa, scooping her into my warmth. Her gentle breaths were light and beautiful.

As I snuck out the backdoor, I placed her in the back of my wagon. Her light brown hair sprawled out amongst the white pillow.

Leaning over I kissed her forehead, "we will be home soon Midnight."

As I closed the door my heart filled with joy, it was time to take my love home.

Clarissa's POV

Soft gentle music played as I opened my eyes.

Sitting up I viewed my surroundings. I was in a small bedroom.

The curtains let in small streaks of light that stretched across the room onto a dresser.

Slipping my feet from under the sheets I had on a yellow silky gown. I thought I lost this a couple weeks ago, how was it here? What was this place?

I got out of bed letting my toes glide across the cold hardwood floor. I grasped onto the curtains and drew them back.

A long meadow stretched out in front of me as the morning sun lifted above the hills. Cows grazed in the large pasture over with their babies.

My hands reached down and wrapped around my unborn child. We were ok right now.

Turning around I caught a glimpse of myself in the mirror. A bandage wrapped around the top of my head and scratches covered my body.

The bomb. I had forgotten. Where was everyone? Dexter would surely be by my side when I woke...

I tiptoed to the door and grabbed the handle preparing myself for what was behind it.

With a gentle tug it swung open. An aroma of a well cooked breakfast hit me.

Long wooden stairs stretched out in front of me.

Every step I took downwards my arm wrapped tighter around my baby.

A soft hum sounded around the corner, yet it was familiar.

As I rounded the corner I saw Lucas cooking at the stove. He was wearing a white t-shirt and grey shorts.

"L-Lucas?" I called.

He turned to me running and engulfed me into a hug, "oh my goodness Midnight you're ok!"

"Where are we Lucas?" I asked pulling back.

"Someone attacked the castle and that's why you were hurt really bad. Dexter and everyone told me to take you to safety out here. When the trouble clears up they will come back for you" he explained.

"Is everyone ok?"

"Yes everyone is perfectly fine and your siblings are with your Aunt and Uncle" he told me.

"This is crazy Lucas! Who would do such a thing? We haven't done anything wrong!" I walked around the room while throwing my hands in the air.

"I don't know Midnight but as long as your safe that's all that matters."

"Safe? Last time you thought I was 'safe' I almost died!" I screamed.

"Because I know you can take care of yourself, I just didn't know ok?"

I took a breathe and sat in a chair at the kitchen table, "I know and I'm sorry."

He placed a hand on my thigh and smiled, " I will do anything to protect you and that child, I hope you know that."

I nodded, "yes I do."

After Lucas finished explaining that no contact could be made with my family I ran upstairs to go get changed.

Pulling open the drawers I saw he had taken some of my clothes from home a placed them here.

I got out a pair of stretchy jeans and a plain purple shirt.

"Breakfast!" Lucas shouted from downstairs.

"Alright I'm coming!" I screamed back.

Making my way into the kitchen I sat down in front of eggs, fruit, and bacon.

"Oh my Lucas this looks heavenly! Where did you learn to cook?" I asked.

His muscles tensed, "my mother."

I knew his mother was a touchy subject.

"Well it tastes fabulous" I mumbled while food was being stuffed into my mouth.

"Thank you" he smiled and sat down next to me.

His black hair covered his eyes while he took large bites.

"How about I give you a hair cut today?" I asked him.

He grasped my hand and nodded, "that would be great."
