♔ Run away Kat ♔ {WATTY AWARDS 2012}

“Don’t worry Kat I’ll catch you!” I yelled; try to convince her that I would most indeed catch her.

“It’s not that, it’s just that it's so high” she said stepping down off the balcony railing, “Maybe I’ll just sneak down the stairs”

“Someone will see us Kat…please!” I pleaded holding my hand out higher, she smiled and daggled her feet over the balcony.

“You always did have a way with words” she said, she breathed in scrunching up her face and jumped. Her silk blue dress clung to her as the rest whipped in the air, her silver earring sparkling in the moonlight.

She fell into my hands like a graceful bird, smiled her perfect little smile up at me, she closed her eyes as her hand slowly went through my hair, I closed my eyes as well as our lips were just centimetres apart.

“Katarina!” a stern, angry voice yelled, we both opened our eyes and looked up at Kat’s balcony “By Gods name child get back up here!”

“No father, you can control me no more” Kat said “I will not sit here and let the kingdom fall” she jumped out of my arms and ran through the muddy ally-way that led to the blacksmiths. I could still hear the king’s angry but desperate pleas for his only daughter to come back to the safety of their castle, but Kat was not one to just sit there and let people die for her kingdom, she would aid those brave people.

“Kat wait up!” I yelled, for a lady running in a dress with a silk white cape over the top she sure was fast, but then again I did have full body armour on, “Hurry up Lancelot, the knights and Arthur will be waiting” she entered the blacksmith, “wait here” she said, she came out with a beautiful midnight black stallion, it was saddled up with pure white reins along with saddle marked with the crest of ‘rohan’ and out of the corner of my eye I saw the glimmer of a sword underneath her white cape.

“You didn’t think I would just use my arrows?” she smiled, “Come on lets ride, this time for sure I’ll beat you.” I smiled and mounted my own brown horse as she did the same.

“You’re on, One…Two...Three-” I said but she was already off, “Yah” I yelled as I raced after the white and black blur that was my lover, Kat.

“We could attack from the mountains, but with only thirteen of us and low resources it would take longer” Arthur said, “And we would be going through the thieves forest” all of the knights looked at Kat.

“There is a path that no-one takes, it’s about two days travel and there’s an abundant of life there, would that be better” she asked “-But please it’s your choice, you are the ones who aid us so it is your decision”

“Kat come now, your kingdom has aided us in our hour of need, it is only fair that we do the same, we will take your path, but why does no-one take it?” Arthur asked rolling up his map and mounting his horse.

Kat sighed, “My father used to tell me stories about that path, brave men would travel down it and not return, they say a demon lives there” she brushed her delicate fingers over her horse, “But it was only a silly tale, as children we saw men go in a come out with big deer and other animals all the time” Arthur nodded as he led the other knights towards the path.

“Don’t worry” I whispered in her ear, sending chills up her spine, “I’ll protect you”

“As I will you Lancelot,” she said placing her warm tender lips on mine, “Forever and always”
