Matt was going away for 3 whole months.
The longest Magcon tour - just pretend they actually tour for that long okay xD -
I knew I wouldn't be able to stand not seeing him for so long, and the distance and time apart would.. change him. Change us.
"Matt?" I asked. We were in bed.
It was the morning before he would leave for three months. He was due to leave in three hours.
I sat up, trying to pull him up with me.
What I had to say was serious and I was afraid of his reaction.
"I have to tell you something.." I started off slowly.Rubbing the sleep out of his eyes, he used his elbows to prop himself up into a sitting position.
"Go for it." He said, smiling.
I took a deep breath, and exhaled.
"I think-"
I was cut off by Matt's phone ringing and he held up a hand.
"Hold that thought." He picked up the phone.
"Hello? No, I'm still at home.."
I tuned his voice out, still trying to muster up the courage to just tell him.
"Matt.. This is important. Can you please just hear me out first?"
"Wait, hold on a second." He turned to me. "This is important too, Y/N. You can tell me later, okay?"
He went back to talking after that.
He ended up being on the phone for half an hour and I'd already washed up and changed out of my pj's.
As I stood in front of the full-length mirror, adjusting my shirt, Matt came from behind me and wrapped his arms around my waist. He leaned over to kiss my cheek, looked at the mirror, and grinned. "What did you want to tell me?"He asked.
"Uhm.." I hesitated. Unwrapping his arms from my waist, I turned to face him, our fingers interlaced. "I.." I had no idea how to tell him.
Matt frowned. "It's nothing bad, right? You look terrified. What's going on?"
I was starting to hyperventilate a little. I did that when I was nervous about something.
"Y/N? Okay, breathe. Just breathe."
He rubbed soothing circles onto my hand.
"It's okay, just bre-" "I think we should break up." I blurted out before I could stop it.
"What?" His eyebrows creased in confusion and I had no idea what to say next.
"I think we should break up." I said again, slower.
He let go of my hands and they dropped limply to my side.
"Th-this is a joke right?" He ran one hand through his hair in frustration.
Looking down at my bare feet, I slowly shook my head.
"Why are you doing this? I'm leaving in less than three hours!" He cried out.
"I-I'm sorry! I wanted to tell you before but I was scared of how you would react!" I tried explaining.
Matt was silent for a while before he finally said, "Get out."
"What?"
"Get. Out. Go! Get your things and leave." He said, pointing towards the door.
I stared at him, shocked, and hurt. "O-okay."
