Chapter 3

The bet

I changed my clothes and went downstairs; I heard voices from the kitchen. One of them belonged to Ron. I stopped in a near wall and I listened to their conversation.

“So, what happened?” A big voice asked.

“Nothing, but I managed to get her trust.” Ron said.

“Hey guys, I feel bad betting on her, after all she did organize all of this.” A small voice said.

“Yes, but this is just for fun. I just want to know if he really does like Ron” The big voice said.

“How did you know that?” Ron asked.

“Rumors. So now, all you have to do is get her to kiss you and I’ll get you that date with my sister.” The big voice said, challenging him.

“Okay!” They high-fived and I heard a loud exhale, which probably came from the guy with the small voice. I ran back to my room as fast as I could and made sure it was locked. I cried with all my might but I tried not to be loud. After crying, I decided to get back at him. I want him to fall for me, and now I have no more feelings for him. It’s all gone, I feel pain and hurt and I want some revenge. So I went to my closet and put on the most revealing suit I have, I arranged my hair and put on some good perfume and then the perfect timing came in. Somebody knocked on my door and I opened it, and it was Ron.

When he saw me, his jaw dropped for a minute. He was staring at me for like a minute and now it’s time to begin some serious acting.

“Hello” I greeted with my nicest and sweetest voice ever.

“Hi.” He said, still staring at me. “What’s the occasion?” He asked, almost breathless.

“Oh, nothing. I just felt like going for a swim. Do you want to join me?” I asked.

“Yeah, sure. Let me just… change. Wait for me here, please. Please wait.” He almost begged.

“Okay.” I grinned.

He exhaled and almost ran to his room and changed. I giggled a little bit, and went back to the bathroom to make myself more irresistible.  After 5 minutes he came back to the door and I was there and it seems that I never have left.

“Let’s go” His face seems more serious this time.

“Okay” I grabbed his elbow and let him lead the way.

I felt his body tense up a little; I was smiling in the back of my mind. This time he regrets what he’s doing. I mean I don’t know if I’m good at these things, but I have to try. He needs to learn a lesson. I grabbed three bottles of beer on the way to the pool area. I gave him one and I opened one for myself.

“Hey, let’s have a deal.” I challenged.

“Okay, what about?” He asked.

“If I get to drink two bottles of beer without getting drunk…” I stopped for a while to think of a great consequence. “You have to kiss one of your guy friends for 3 seconds then dance like a monkey afterwards.” I smiled, partly because it was a good revenge plan: embarrassing him in front of the whole batch. and partly to make it seem I was just having fun.

“What? Well, it isn’t like you not to get drunk anyway. I agree then. But, if you get don’t finish those two… you kiss me for 5 seconds” He approved.

“Fine” I muttered.

I drank the first bottle slowly, just one mouthful at a time. He was carefully watching if I get drunk or if I can’t take it anymore. I managed to finish the first bottle without getting woozy, so moved on to the next bottle. I drank this one straight and in about 10 seconds the bottle was drop less. I waved the bottle at him and smiled.

“All done” I grinned.

Without one word he walked toward his friends, and I was laughing the whole time. He held his friend’s face and quickly kissed him. I counted so loudly everybody looked at him, after the kiss he danced like a monkey. I was laughing so hard. Then he came back to me with a humiliated face.

“Happy?” He asked me, pissed off.

“Yeah!” I was still laughing.

“Can we please go somewhere else now?” He demanded.

“Okay, let me just tell my friends. Wait for me here” I looked at him.

He just nodded. The great thing is I don’t feel bad for him at all. It was the perfect revenge because I didn’t have to be the bad one. It was just a deal after all. I walked to my friends and they were still laughing.

“Oh dear, poor you. Your boyfriend’s gay.” Cheska teased.

“He isn’t my boyfriend and I intended that to happen. I made a deal with him. I wanted to get back at him for what he’s doing to me” I said seriously.

“Why? What is he doing to you dear?” Emma stopped laughing.

“Well, I was going downstairs when I heard him talking to his friends. I heard that they made a bet: if he kisses me they would let him date that guy’s incredibly hot sister.” I pointed to the guy he kissed.

“Why did they make that bet?” Hanna was beginning to get furious.

“Well, he said that rumor said that I liked him and he just wanted to know if that was the truth.” I tried to explain.

“What for?” Cheska asked.

“I don’t know. I honestly don’t know. Anyway, I should probably go. Ron’s waiting for me.” I said.

“You’re still going with him? Well I have to pound that guy.” Hanna stood up.

“No. He still doesn’t know that I have knowledge about the bet. So, let’s just keep quiet for a while about this issue. Okay?” I stopped her.

She sat back down and I waved goodbye. I was halfway back to him when James blocked my way. I tried to avoid him but he just kept blocking my way.

“What do you want?” I demanded.

“Why don’t you go bond with us for a while, sweetie?” He asked.

“No thanks. You seem drunk, James. I don’t like you when you’re drunk.” I said.

“I am not drunk.” He grabbed my waist and pulled me towards him.

“What are you doing?” I pushed myself away from him.

“Don’t play innocent, you know you still want me.” He leaned towards my face.

“STOP!” I pulled my face away.

He kept advancing his face so I used my hands to try and push him away but his hands were still on my waist, so it was hard to get him away from me. I was still pushing then someone pulled him away from me.

“Stop it, man!” Ron said forcefully.

“Why? What are you gonna do?” James challenged.

Ron stepped forward, and kissed James then punched him once. He grabbed my wrist and we ran back to the house.

“What did you do?!” I laughed slightly, but shouted because I was partly mad.

“I was trying to defend you. If that wasn’t obvious enough” He said, confused that I was somehow mad.

“You just challenged his friends to get back at you!” I was still shouting.

“No, they were about to stop him when I got there. And they motioned that I take the action. So there isn’t anything to worry about.” He explained.

I calmed down and sighed with relief.

“It’s just sad that you won’t get to swim” He tried to change the topic.
