On Monday I saw Lilac at school. I didn't know why she was there seeing as it was our last week before summer break. All we do in class is watch movies.

---

It's was 10 mins before 1st period and we were getting out of Chases car.
I saw her standing by the bike racks on the phone. She looked concerned.
Harper and Fawn's Monday schedule is all different to mine so they went off to the English department and I went to the bike racks.

"Look I'm sorry I just can't at the moment. I haven't got-sorry I have to go." She quickly put her phone away as soon as she saw me coming. There was a certain look of fear in her eyes, a look of worry.
"Hey...Ruby...I was just-"
"You don't have to tell me. "
"Thanks." She sighed. The look vanished.

"Do you wanna help me find room 104. I think it's history..." She hinted.
"Yeah sure. I have history 1st too but not with you. Unfortunately." Lilac giggled and pushed her hair out of her eyes.
It was now I realised that they were more green/blue than blue. Like the ocean.

"Thanks. "
We began walking into the schools main entrance. You could see she was nervous but I had a feeling it wasn't about school; that phone call...
As we walked down the the hallway we (Lilac) got a few glances, and a group of jocks wolf-whistled at her.
One of them even slapped her butt. Well tried to, I caught his hand before he had a chance to and held it behind his back.
"Do that again and you will get slapped." I dropped his hand and walked away. "Ass..."

"Woa, thanks. That was cool."
"No problem. I do it for Fawn and Harper all the time." She gave the what look so I explained that they were my best friends and the most popular girls in our grade.
"Lucky you." She laughed.

Yeah...lucky me.

---

Fawn and Harper aren't the best people to hang around. Well when you're me, anyway. I try to blend in with them but if a bunch of their friends come around then they kinda forget about me.

They are the nicest, sweetest, kindest people on the planet. When we're alone.
We have millions of inside jokes and always laugh and smile but when 'cool' people approach I'm just some boring normie. Most people would dump them as friends but not me! Nope.
Truth be told if I didn't have them I'd have no one so...
I don't really have any choice.

But now Lilac's here and I may have another option. I didn't know if she wanted to be my best friend. Who was I kidding, we'd known each other for about a week of course she didn't.
I just needed to get to know her more, because I can't go around school on my own everyday. Plus she probably wanted a friend to hang around with seeing as it was her 1st day.

---

As we entered the History department, I saw her bright face fall. There were quite a few people around us and were all staring. She looked scared and shy.
"Hey it's ok, they stop soon." She slowly nodded her head and snapped back into a bubbly mood.
"Yeah...I'm sure! Is this the right room?" She gestured towards room 104.
"Yep. Meet me outside when you're done. We both have a free period." I winked at her and went into room 108.

"Ok class find your seats. Thank you, thank you." I went over to a seat next to Mason, one of my closest guy friends.
"Hey beautiful." He joked. I sat down and got out my binder.
"Hey liar." I sneered.
"Oh so we're both lying?"
"Haha very funny."
"You seen the new girl?" He turned around and fist-bumped a guy who was walking past him.
"Yeah, she lives a few doors down from me. "
"Oh in gay Cal's house. " My expression turned to serious.
"Don't call him that."
He smirked.
"Why? Did you like him??" His face looking concerned.
"No!"
"#defensive..."
"Oh shut up."
