Drop In

It had been almost 6 years since that fateful night. In fact, Christmas was only a week away. Dusk was working in the kitchen while Svett was playing with some building blocks in the living room. Dusk glanced in at her and smiled. She had grown fast in the years he had taken care of her. He couldn't help but think back to catching her off his roof. The pure shock he had. The first month was a nightmare but he had managed to pull it off.

He was snapped out of his daze as Svett pulled on his arm. He shook his head and smiled down at her. Something was on her mind. Dusk saw it by the look on her face.

"Its almost my birthday daddy. We were learning in school about parents. How come I don't look like you? Where's mommy?" Dusk quickly fireman carried Svett to the couch, causing her to let out a playful giggle. He tossed her onto the couch and laughed before sitting next to her. His smile faded before nodding slightly and sighing.

"Svett, I want you to know I love you very much. I raised you from the moment you came in this world. And I want you to know that what I'm about to tell is not gonna be easy." Dusk took a deep breath and looked at his awaiting daughter. Her eyes were locked onto him though her heart was racing.

Dusk opened his mouth to speak, but all he got was a scream as wood splintering sounds filled the house. Dusk instinctively put himself between the intruder and Svett. Dusk knew little about combat, but he figured it would be enough to at least keep Svett safe long enough for her to run. He stood his ground, hands raised in fists, ready to fight whatever came through the doorway.

The figure that came through though was the last thing he expected.

A large male reindeer stormed in, his emerald eyes blazing with hatred. He snapped his head around, his muscular body tense from anger. He finally set eyes on the wolf and marched in his direction. Dusk expected a punch but was merely greeted by heavy breathing mere inches from his face. He looked up at the easily six foot beast and braced for the blow that never came.

"Where is she?" The voice was calm for someone who had just turned a door into toothpicks. Dusk stepped back, covering Svett further.

"Keep your hands off my daughter." Dusk lashed out in defense. The reindeer raised his hand to swing but saw a glimpse of the red figure behind. He pushed Dusk out of the way and picked up the smaller reindeer in a bear hug. Dusk was furious and instantly closed the distance, slamming his fist into the large beast's jaw. The reindeer stumbled a bit before setting down Svett. He rubbed his jaw before looking at the wolf. The massive reindeer took no time in pinning the wolf to the wall by his throat.

"You kept my sister from me for six years. You kept her from my mother. You strike me as I hold my baby sister for the first time in my life. And you have the nerve to call her your daughter?!" The reindeer tightened the grip around his throat before he froze up.

"Let go of my father you monster!" Svett ran up and began punching the larger deer in the back. The large beast let go of the wolf and picked up the flailing girl. Dusk Grabbed his own throat, gasping for air.

"Your father? You think this canine is your father? Your mother is one of Santa's reindeer. Your father was too. This wolf is not your father." Svett, angered beyond words, landed a sharp kick to the reindeer's jaw, causing him to drop her. Dusk looked up and gasped as his mind went back to the first night she was born. Her barely born body sliding down his roof. Dusk got up quickly and caught Svett before she landed face first into the floor. The large reindeer turned in time to see the catch and merely froze.

He was unsure of how to react. This was not kidnapper behavior. It wasn't like this wolf had imprisoned her. He took the roll of her father and obviously wasn't bad at it. The reindeer sat on the couch with a sigh before looking back at the wolf and his daughter.

"Who are you?" Dusk demanded, holding onto Svett tightly. The large reindeer crossed his arms and frowned.

"I'm Mixe. Son of Vixen." Dusk went wide eyed and looked down at Svett.

"And she is the daughter of Vixen."
