seven minutes

he was the moon, reigning the dark sky
breathtaking and luminous and peculiar
the stars came out for him
to bask in his magnificence

she was the sun, bright and loud
she omitted warmth to all planets
she was beauty yet pain to his eyes
he looked away when he saw her

she longed for eclipses; their eyes would meet
briefly—yet heaven lingered
he looked away, shielding and hiding
the cowardice part of himself masked beside a crescent

I long for the eclipses; spare me your gaze for seven minutes
it won't be long but meeting your eyes is the universe and a lifetime for me.

Fact: A lunar eclipse, on average, lasts about 7 minutes.

Hey guys! I'm using this book to post some poetry I've written. I'm not experienced at all. I've never really taken a class on poetry. These are simply for enjoyment. Haha. Feel free to critique; I want to improve my writing!

(P.S. I've been working vigorously on Aprés Mon Cœur, PROJECT: Miraculous, Promise, and Sweet Dreams . One will be updated soon!)
