I got more nervous when Yuki didn't come, but I waited anyway, sitting on the cold stone had made me shiver a little. When I saw something moving in the distance, I quickly hid behind a tree and looked to see what it was. I sighed in relief when I saw that it was only Yuki. She crept out of the bushes and looked over at the stone. I rushed back over to the stone, waving at her.
Her eyes brightened when she got sight of me, and she came over and took a seat next to me.
"Hey, Arno. Sorry I am late, I got caught by my father, but I got out of it."
I nodded, "It's okay, for a second I thought you'd bail me though." I chuckled nervously, she frowned.
"Yeah, I'll be more careful next time, can we met at day now? It's getting more stressful to stay up all night, I am getting tired." She yawned, closed her eyes and was leaning backwards down in the direction of the well.
I caught her instantly, wrapping my arm around her waist. Her eyes fluttered open, and looked up at mine. After a few moments of realizing what happened, she started to blush. I smirked,
"Yeah, it's best to do this at day, maybe you can meet me at the town tomorrow, where the church is."
She nodded and got herself out of my arms and walked out, waving goodbye.
I waved back, and sighed. Tomorrow I was going to meet her at the town.The next morning, I came to the town early, since I didn't sleep at all because of being worried about what would happened to Yuki if she got caught by her father again. I was bored of sitting and waiting so I went into the town, bought some flowers, went to the church graveyard, and put a lilac onto Élise's grave. I remember what she told me when she sacrificed her life to save mine. I took out the last letter that Élise wrote, it reads;
"Arno, I fear that you have lost so much already that you cannot bear to lose more. I think that you would Germain rule France if you thought it would "save" me. Have you ever known me to need saving? Have you ever have cause to think that I would accept it if it were offered? My fate is my own. My choice is my own."
~Élise De La Serre
I tucked the letter away, and headed towards the town square. On my way there, someone pushed me out of the way of a rider and their horse then the guards.
"You!" The official yelled, "did you see what or who killed the priest?"
"Um, what?" I said slightly confused. "What do you mean?"
"Who was the killer of the priest?!" The guard jumped in, holding the bayonet at my neck, 'threatening' me.
As I recalled if the brotherhood ever assigned anyone to be the one who would kill the priest, which he was a Templar but nicer than the others. I accepted him to be a normal person in life. But no one was to do such a thing.
"Non je suis désolé. Now if you'll excuse me, I have some important 'errands' to make." I pushed through the crowd of guards, hoping to see Yuki. As I close in on the church, I suddenly stop and hid. Darn it! Her father and Germain? Germain is dead! I killed him! Curiosity got the better of me as I walk towards "Germain". I wanted to take my phantom blades to him, but what if he was innocent? Would I break the first tenet? No, I'm not going to think that they're Germain. As I close the gap between us, Yuki's father had seen me, and sent guards towards me, so I took this to the roof. After I had escaped, I turned back to 'my' mansion, it used to be François and Èlise, but for now on it's where I live.
As I walked to my homestead, I found a lake, looking into the reflection, I wrote into the journal I had kept secret,
March 20th, 1794, Paris, France
Now that, I'm the top wanted, again. I can't do anything around the town square with my assassin robes, but if I go out in my normal clothes will they notice who I am? Let's go try it even if I get thrown into jail, for the third time. I'll tell what had happened later, but for now let's find the keys to Monsieur De La Serre's living quarters, where I forgot the keys. I really need those usual clothes, but yet again I need-As I writing, I put my non-writing hand into my pocket, finding the keys. "That just hurts. I didn't even think about it." I murmured.
-to be not suspicious. After all of the work of trying to find the keys, they were just in my pocket! Afterwards, I look at the shadow looming over me, thinking it was the willow tree, but really am I afraid of a-
I looked behind me and before I could react, a fist had connected with my head, knocking me down to the ground. All I could see was a face I will never forget, Shay Patrick Cormac, my father's murderer. The traitor to the Creed.
