I bolted through the doors of the shopping mall almost falling over as I do causing a few people to send me startled and pointed looks of confusion but before they could even register what was happening, I was already at the other end of the shopping outlet, panting as my heart raced with adrenalin and fear. I probably looked like a mad man at this point to innocent passer by's who probably had no idea why I was even running in the first place in a shopping mall.I payed no attention to them as I ran, whimpering when I noticed an upcoming escalator from the underground floor carrying families in my track.
I started to slow down in my running but my heart rate continued to increase. My running had turned down to a steady jog, I couldn't risk walking. I know they'd catch me.
As I was coming up to the escalator I couldn't help but glance behind my shoulder feeling paranoid.
I was almost satisfied that I had lost them, I had run a few blocks after all, making sure to take sharp corners or long alleyways to give me a better chance of escaping them. It seems to have worked.
I let out a shaky breath as I let my wobbly hand fly up to my forehead, wiping the thick layer of sweat that had formed.
When I brought my hand down from my forehead I managed to spot at the corner of my eye a glint of black. Without hesitation my eyes turned to the side in the direction I saw the glib of black and my heart stopped.
They're here.
In a haste I quickly pushed forward. shoving people out of my way with a mumbled 'sorry' as I begin to once again run but only this time down an upcoming escalator- which has to be the most difficult thing to do if you ask me.
The man in black began to move towards the elevator quickly once he saw my firey getaway and brought his wrist up to his mouth. I glanced back to see him saying something into his wrist hurriedly and that's all I could see before my legs kicked into action and I practically leaped down the last remaining steps of the elevator.
When I was on the ground I ran forward down the long sea of people filling the hallway, my eyes shooting above me to look for an exit drastically.
I couldn't help but glance back again only to see the man running down the escalator like I had down but literally shoving people out of his way as he did so without mumbling anything along the lines of 'sorry'. He almost hurled a man over the side in his haste.
I turned back around and darted my head in all directions, looking for where most of the crowd was coming from knowing that that's where people will be entering the shopping outlet.
I didn't know where to go. There was people everywhere in all directions and I was standing in the middle of everyone.
It would be risky to try and blend in with the crowd because they would spit me all too quickly all because of my hair which to this day I dread more than anything.
I knew they would be blocking the entrance and all exits by now. They're fast I hate to admit it but they are. They're trained for this sort of thing. For things like me happening.
Only I don't think a chase like this has gone on for as long as this.
I let the tears coat my eyes as I looked around, coming to the conclusion that they'll find me eventually and that there is no use of running let alone hiding.
As my eyes landed on a small shop in the corner, completely isolated from the other shops in the outlet, I read the sign above it that said 'Chinese Pottery Decoration'
I didn't waste any time in running to it, making sure to keep my head down and out of eye shot as I scurried through crowds of people who payed not attention to me.
