She remembered.










She remembered lights. And sounds. And a hand holding her own just before she felt hers slip.

She remembered hair.

Long and white and flowing. Bright like stars.

She remembered her. Eyes. Face. Clothes. Smell. Sound.

"C'mon Cassie!"

"Dragging me off again?"

A snicker.

"Of course! Why wouldn't I?"

"Because you have three days left to live."

"Exactly. I have three whole days where I can tell anyone I want that I'm about to die, so I'll be damned if I don't get to spend my last hours here with my wife."

"You never slow down"

"I never will. If I go, it'd better be the biggest news anyone's had in years."

A smile.

"Where to?"



Nothing.

Tears.

Begging whisper.
