Brandon had a splitting headache from all the wine he had at William's reception. He would have slept for a little longer but someone started knocking on his door. He had hoped to ignore it until whoever it was left but his hopes were dashed as soon as Michael entered the bedchamber as if he owned it.

"Get up, we have work to do." Brandon ignored his friend and used the extra pillow to cover his head in an attempt to block him out. Michael had anticipated such childish behavior and removed the bedcover with Brandon on it. The thud of Brandon's fall was heard all through the household while he could not decide which part of his anatomy took the burnt of his fall, his hands or his hip. Throwing his friend a venomous look, he started looking for more injuries.

"Tell me you have something useful and I am not being dragged out of my bed at this ungodly hour because of some irrelevant detail that you want to discuss. I swear I don't even have the energy to give you a well deserved beating." Brandon grumbled as he stood and began his toiletries. Michael saw that his friend would be useless until he his headache subsided. He rang for a footman so that they could have a greasy breakfast with the strongest coffee available in the privacy of Brandon's bedchamber.

By the time Brandon was done dressing, the breakfast had arrived and the room was full of its delicious smell.

"Did I ever tell you that you are a very perceptive man? It's one of the qualities I like about you." Brandon smiled before taking hold of his drink. William choose the exact moment to enter the room and take Brandon's cup from him before he had even a single sip.

"You should be with your new wife, stop making my life miserable. Why is everyone actively seeking out my company this morning?" Brandon complained like a brat.

"Is Emma a good enough subject for you? Do you think that you are ready to discuss my sister? Or is it still too early?" Brandon paled. He was positive that he had been respectful towards Emma yesterday and had gotten drunk in the privacy of his room. Did he do something foolish?

"The biggest gossip in ton is here to know why you danced with my sister six times, SIX BLOODY TIMES BRADY! WHAT WERE YOU THINKING?" Brandon wanted to smile, he had done nothing too embarrassing. Explaining why he danced with Emma six times was easier then explaining why he had been caught in her room. He could have laughed but knew that William would not share his view of the situation.

"Of she's still here then I think that you should keep your voice down." If the old biddy heard William's shouts, she would have even more gossip to spread after yesterday and Emma's reputation would be in shreds.

"Why did you do it?" Brandon could see William's anger in his eyes. He knew he had to speak the truth, even if it meant being punished later.

"I wasn't thinking. It was a wedding and you know how weddings make single people fantasize. Your sister is an amazing woman and to have her in my arms for more than one song was amazing, it made me dream. It made me hope. For just one evening I wanted to pretend that I had someone special in my life, that someone would have me and love me like George would love you for the rest of your days. I'm just so sorry but it was such a beautiful dream to live that I could not stop myself." William had a smile on his face by the time Brandon ended his rant.

"You can have my blessing to marry my sister, but first you have to convince her that you love her. It will be a tough job but I think a rogue is best possible person to do it." Brandon stared at his friend, stupefied. It felt like just yesterday when George had to stop William from throwing a punch at him when he saw Brandon standing near his sister.

"I have your blessing? But I thought you don't trust me with your sister" Brandon wanted to curse himself loudly, if William was happy enough to give his blessing then he should just accept it instead of thinking of all the reasons why this was wrong.

"I do think that you are a great man and I would love to have you as a brother." Michael chocked on his morning juice while Brandon kept on staring at William as if he had lost his mind.

"But I am a bastard and a rogue." Brandon wanted to put his fist in his mouth so that he would stop blurting everything that came to his mind out.

"I don't care if you are a bastard, I never have and you are not a rogue. I haven't seen you with a single woman since you came back to London. It's almost as if you have decided to live like a nun, all you need is a chastity belt." Brandon realised that his friend was right, he has been with no one since he met Emma. It's as if the woman had taken his virility, he didn't want or need sex anymore.

"What about our age difference? She's so young, what about her debut? What about all the other man with title's, what if they want her? What if she realizes that she was cheated out of so many opportunities?" Brandon's insecurities were making him feel unworthy and he wanted William to realise that life with him would not be easy for his sister. What if she started regretting her decision after marriage?

"Maybe we should reconsider, you don't sound like a happy or what groom. You almost look sad." William narrowed his eyes at his friend. Brandon huffed in resignation, he will have to spell it out for Wil.

"I'm happy but I love your sister and I would never sentence her to a life like mine. It's a lonely existence where nobody wants to know you because of how you were conceived. It's a curse that follows you, I don't want that for your sister." Michael stood to hug Brandon, he understood exactly what his friend was trying to say. Being responsible for your parents mistakes was a burden that no child should bear.

"You promise me one thing, promise me you will let my sister choose. If she wants you, you won't push away because of some twisted sense of honor. She's a smart woman, she will think of the consequences before she decides to pursue you. Just let her love you when the time comes. As much as I want to shake you to make you understand how stupid your logic is, I won't. The two of you need to learn somethings on your own. Yes Michael, I mean you too." William smiled at his friends, maybe someday they will have what he and George had and realize that they don't need someone else's validation of friendship.

"I promise, now go back to your wife before she starts despising me for keeping you away from her." With that Brandon shoved William out the door. Their laugh rang out and was heard in the drawing room below. The gossiping old biddy had something new to share with her cronies, the Earl was a close friend of the bastard.
