I walked into class and scanned the room. I could've sworn that I saw Kara out of the corner of my eye but I knew she wasn't there. I walked to a desk next to Kia and sat down. "Time to take role. I'm Ms. Linux." Said the teacher. She was short but skinny and had long strawberry blonde hair. Her eyes were light silver and she was pale. I zoned out as she called out names until I heard her say one word. "Kara?" She asked. Everyone went silent. Some looked at me and some uncomfortably muttered. I looked down and my eyes began to tear up, until I heard a boy say: "She...she's not with us anymore." He looked down. I noticed who he was. He was Kara's little brother. He went to therapy as well but more than me. I felt Kia's hand on my shoulder. "It's okay Lillian." She whispered. I calmed down and looked up at the teacher. She could see now that she had brought up a sensitive subject. "O-oh! I-I'm so sorry! I just moved here this summer...I had no idea." She said nervously. We nodded signaling to her that it was okay and she went on calling names. I said "Here" when she called my name and homeroom was over soon after. Now it was gym class. "I don't have gym with you Lillian...are you going to be okay?" Kia asked, concerned. "I'll be fine." I said. But Kia could tell that I was lying. I felt another hand on my shoulder. It was the little brother. He was short and seemed to be a year younger than me but for some reason he was still in the same grade. "Jeffrey...take care of her." Said Kia as she ran off to Math. "You okay?" He asked. "Yeah...let's just get to class..." I said.
