Fifteen

A girl walked up to school, breathing in the fresh smell of air. She raised a hand to put her blond hair into a pony tail. She straighten her blue collar shirt, and brushed off her jeans. Pulling her backpack over her shoulders, she headed towards the doors. 

She got strange looks from the other kids, but she just brushed them off. They were just jealous at her talent or something. 

Walking up to the school she pushed open the doors and let the smell of perfume, sweat, and drama pour into her nose.

"Get out the bed Skyler!" I screamed in frustration. I been trying to get her out for the past 15 minutes, and I never miss the bell.

"Give me five more minutes!"  She said waving her hand at me. "Get out you lazy piece of crap." I snapped.  "I said give five  more minutes." 

"No! every time I come your like five more minutes, like come on what was more important than going to bed." 

"Facebook, and our babysitter service, people are starting to look at it."  She said finally getting out bed. She walked over to her closet and slipped into some jeans and a white hoodie. 

I watch her stuff down her breakfast, and she grabbed my shoulder and teleported us to school. Better had, I don't like being late. 

When we arrived at school, everyone was in a rush more than usual. I raised an eyebrow as me and Skyler hurried up and grabbed our books and scurried to the classroom.

As soon as I enter first, my face made contact with Elizabeth. I groaned and told her why was she in a rush.

"Apparently there's a new student and I wanted to be the first one to greet her." She said rubbing her head.

"Oh."

"Yeah, rumor says she has blonde hair that's more pretty than a princess."

"Isn't that a stupid rumor?" Skyler asked, walking up to us with her hands in her pocket.

"Apparently not, Popular is trying to get the first glimpse of her so they can make her their target." Elizabeth said putting her hands in her pocket.

"Why?" I asked.

"It's obvious they don't want anyone more popular than them." Elizabeth said scanning over the classroom trying to see if Popular was eavesdropping I figured.

"They can't always be popular." Estefani said from behind us. "I mean, they're probably going to do something bad to the newbie and probably lose their reputation.

"True.." I said unsure, wondering if it's really that simple. Just then a girl walked through the door and every paused.

"Uh.. hello?" said the stranger. Everyone just stared at her before turning away going back to their business. 

"Dammit I thought it was going to be a hot chick." A boy said walking up to a group of guys. I almost burst out laughing, but that's rude and I don't need any more enemies. I walked up to the blonde girl and introduce us. 

"Hi! My name is Terra and this is Skyler, Estefani, and Elizabeth." I smiled, showing my teeth. The girl looked at all of us before smiling.

"Hi my name AJ, and it's nice to meet all you guys."

"Sup, I'm Skyler, and oh Terra she's just a sidekick." Skyler said petting my head and laughing victoriously. I smiled sweetly at AJ and turned to Skyler and gave her a death glare. I was about to excuse us from the classroom when Mrs. White came into classroom. 

Skyler's POV 

After class we walked with AJ to our next class, turns out she had the next class with us. So when I went to sit in my regular spot next to Terra, AJ sat in my seat and so I sat next to her so she was in the middle of me and Terra. 

I felt my vein poke out, being annoyed that she took my seat, but I'm going to try to be friendly. So I tried to make a conversation with her.

"So.. AJ where ya from?" I asked.

"Oh, I'm from..... downtown and stuff ya know." She said in a hurry that I raised an eyebrow.

"Oh I get what you mean." I finally answered back.

"So where you and Terra from?"

"Oh we've lived here all our life." I said. 

"Well that's nice." She said smiling and turned away just as the teacher walked in. I narrowed my eyes at her before getting called to answer a math expression on the board. 

"2(6x - 3) + 3 equals 12x - 6" I said as I do the math on the board. When the teacher told me good job I walked back to my seat in pride. Terra was looking at me looking jealous. See I can be smart too.

Later at lunch I felt very annoyed. Why? It seemed like AJ was taking my best friend away. Terra was talking to her and when Estefani started talking to me.

"Hey are you okay?"  Estefani asked lightly. 

"I'm fine." 

"Are you sure, you been stabbing at your pork chop for ten minutes now." I looked down at my tray and realized my pork chop is now smash and had stabbed wounds everywhere. Shit, I must be that angry huh? 

"It's a habit." I lied. 

"She's lying." Elizabeth face was now in front of me. I jumped back and almost fell out my chair, how the hell did she get there? 

"No I'm not."

"There's no point in lying Skyler." Someone said from behind me. Oh great not now. "What do you want Matthew?"

"Oh I just wanted to hang with our close friends." He said facing me. I looked over at the person behind him still not able to look him in the eye after the whole Valentine's day shit. "Hey Skyler." 

"Hey Tyler." I greeted. 

"Who's that Terra talking to." He said looking over at the end of the table that was filled with laughter coming from the two girls.  

"That's AJ." I said my voice kind of got hard.

"Ohh the new girl everyone been talking about." 

"Yep, that's her." I said popping the 'p'. 

"Damn I thought she was going to be hot, but she is kind of cute." Matthew said rubbing his chin, I swear I saw a flash of mischief in there. 

"Matthew don't do anything stupid." Tyler warned. "I'm not going to do anything stupid, don't you guys have any faith in me?" 

"Nope." We all said popping the 'p'. 

Matthew mumbled under his breath, but licked his hand and slick back his hair. "Here I go." He walked up to AJ in some type of walk. I guess trying to act all that and stuff. 

When he finally reached the end of the table, he grabbed AJ's hands and said a pickup line I don't believe I heard before. 

"Is it me, or are you the sexiest babe I have seen." He said winking and kissed her hand. I felt a tinge of jealously hit me, but I ignored it and took out my phone and started recording. 

"Uh look dude I'm not interested." AJ said raising up her hands. Matthew put a hand over his heart and stood up. So, he tried again and again and finally AJ did the most unexpected thing. SLAP!

Matthew gasped and grabbed hold of his cheek. Everyone in the cafeteria was silent until I said something. I stood up and screamed "WOOOO YOU GO GIRL! I REALLY LIKE YOU NOW!" I said.

Everyone in the cafeteria started laughing at Matthew and Matthew of course stuck up the middle finger at all of us before storming out of the cafeteria. 

I stopped recording and thought about putting it on YouTube or something.

"Well that was awkward." I heard AJ say before going back into a conversation with Terra again and me going back to being jealous.

"Looks like we're back to square one." I mumbled.
