Fifty-three, when most people hear this they just think of a number. But for the students of Legacy Middle School, it means something completely different.
Here's where it all began.....
On friday April 14th a beloved friend of many had an accident. His name was Marcus. He got knocked unconscious and was strangled by a small chain coming from the shower head. Then nearly 30 minutes later he was discovered. It took 20 minutes to revive him in, but right after he went into a coma. Then 3 days later his parents made one of the most heartbreaking decisions of their lives and decided to take Marcus off of life support and let him become an organ donor.
The entire school was devastated. They held prayer circles of nearly 200 students, all wore purple in honor of him, and even scrawled his jersey number all over their bodies.
Losing someone is hard, but losing someone as special as Marcus is horrible. He was an angel, always happy, ready to cheer up anyone and everyone. He had it all going his way, the perfect life. A loving girlfriend, amazing friends, good grades, a positive attitude, the ability to push through times of hardship and always see the light in the dark, on route to be one of the best soccer players in the world, the list goes on. He was so young too, only 13 years old.
Now, and forever he will be missed and never forgotten. And to his friends and family the number Fifty-three will forever represent Marcus' amazing life and will always have a place in their hearts.
