Chapter 7

Rule number one of government services, we not only don't negotiate with terrorists, but we don't negotiate with anyone. I was sitting at the small coffee shop in the middle of town and quite literally in the middle of everything. Mr. Carter clearly picked this spot in hope of not being shot, killed, or abducted, due the number of people that were walking around. I always knew the Dallas/Fort Worth area had been huge, but seeing this number of people openly roaming the streets from location to location certainly gave me a new perspective on the metropolitan area.

It was 16:55 when I took my seat at the coffee house. Across the street were both my brother in arms preparing for anything that might cause a potential problem. I know Mr. Carter said to meet him a lone, but that goes back to rule number 1, the government does not negotiate with anyone. I nonchalantly spoke into my watch, “Alpha leader is green.”

No words were exchanged from the other end until a very quiet voice spoke through my intercom, “Friendly civilian target is approaching your vicinity at your 7 o'clock, were standing by.”

I turned my head slightly to see a rather distressed looking Mr. Cater. When he took a seat across from me no words were said. Then he said, “Its good to see you alive Martin, but not a lone as I asked.”

I showed no surprise and tried to hide my amusement, “Carter it is the just the two of us that I know in this coffee shop.”

He glared at me, “Don't play me for a fool, Martin Adams, I saw both your brothers sitting across the street before I came in.”

I glared back suspiciously, “Who are you really?”

He grinned, “I could ask the same thing of you.”

I sighed, “That information is classified. But so is everything else in this meeting, so lets go ahead and break a few laws. I am Captain Martin Pierce, I am in charge of the two soldiers under my command to breach the public school systems and defend the largest school population in the country. Your employment is being targeted by the notorious mass murdering group, RANTS.”

Mr. Carter paled slightly, “And you work for the military? How long have you been training? Why did they send kids into the school to do an adults job? Why-”

I held my hand up calmly, “Please Mr. Carter, one question at a time. I do indeed work for the US military, more importantly in the Black Ops division, so with that being said you know the penalty for leaking information I dispose to you?”

Mr. Carter nodded with a slight gulp and I continued, “I have been training since I could practically walk. My father is General, he is a highly decorated military officer and he was the one who put me into Project Morti.”

My Theater teacher paled, “Project Death?”

I nodded grimly, “RANTS wants nothing more, but to see this entire school leveled to the ground and see five thousand school children dead. My father may have put fourth the project, but he didn't sponsor it, he is a high string officer, but they needed one of the five star generals to support this before they could get approval from Washington. So the General in charge of this whole operation had me and two teenage soldiers to take down as many RANTS agents as possible or die trying. The original plan that RANTS formed back in the 90's was to send nothing but kids into their program, but clearly things have changed a bit and we are out parred. We will be looking to bring in reinforcements soon, because as you saw earlier we are out gunned. We are out of our league honestly, we expected to be dealing with the same level we are on, but this operation is much more massive than intel originally told us.”

Mr. Carter shuddered involuntarily, “This isn't right. The government has trained assassins to do a job that adults should be doing. Surely you must see this?”
