You woke up with a long yawn in the middle of the night for no apparent reason. You weren't hot or cold, and nothing hurt, but something randomly woke you up and you couldn't put a finger on it. Only after a few seconds you realized the other half of the bed was empty and cold, and your husband's arms weren't wrapped around your waist as they usually would be. Slowly stretching you pulled your pink robe tighter around your body and got up to search for Mats. He wasn't the heaviest sleeper, but he was never awake if there was no need to be.

Trying to be as quiet as possible you went down the stairs, after checking upstairs and finding no sign of him, hoping he was in the living room because you were already getting slightly worried. You noticed his silhouette on the couch in the dark room and let out an inaudible sigh of relief. The TV was on but the volume was down and he didn't seem especially focused. Coughing quietly you caught his attention, and joined him on the couch.

"Why are you up, love?" He asked you quietly, bringing his hand to rest on your cheek. "Everything okay?"

"Everything is fine, Mats. I probably got up because you weren't there." You let out a soft chuckle and took his hand in yours, intertwining your fingers.

"I... couldn't sleep. And I didn't want to wake you up so I came down here. I'm getting kind of frustrated already." Mats said with a yawn, and it was obvious to you that he had been very tired, but just couldn't fall asleep.

"That's nasty... but you know the TV won't do you any good when you're tired." You told him, took the remote and turned off the television.

"Y/N, I was watching that!" He groaned.

"I doubt it," you giggled, "I never thought you're the type to be interested in 'Top 50 Blues songs'." You pointed to the now dark TV screen referring to what was on just a minute earlier.

"I needed a distraction." Mats huffed out, leaning his head back on the couch. "This sucks."

You still weren't certain something wasn't bothering him, but it was way too late (or too early?) to have deep talks. So you did the most sensible and logical thing you could think of at half past three in the morning - cuddle.

Mats gave in easily, laying his head in your lap and looking up at you with glistening eyes.

"You're pretty." He whispered with a crooked grin, and you laughed.

"Ah, but it's dark" you pointed out, "you silly!"

"But you're still gorgeous, you know?" Mats confessed sleepily, and after all the time you'd spent together it still made your heart melt.

"Sure." You hummed. Your fingers were lazily threading through his dark locks because you knew it made him relax every time he was stressed. "Wanna go to bed?" You offered hopefully after a few minutes of silence, because you were getting sleepier as time went by. Mats just hummed in agreement silently, probably almost asleep as well. He radiated warmth and you wanted to cuddle up to him in your king sized bed and just fall asleep in your husband's strong arms. With fingers interlocked you both got off the couch and headed towards your shared bedroom.

After getting under the covers eagerly you made yourself comfortable on your back, and Mats was lying on his side with his arm around you and his head leaning against your shoulder. His beard tickled the skin of your right shoulder but you didn't mind as you played with his hair again.

"Go to sleep, baby." He whispered, nudging your cheek with his nose, "I'll sleep now as well, okay?"

"Okay then... good night." You replied, already dozing off and you felt your husband press a light kiss on your cheek, making your lips curl up in a little smile.

"I'm so glad I married you, y'know?" He chuckled, knowing Y/N had a smile on her face although it was very dark in the room. "Good night, Y/N. I love you."

Last imagine! Thank you for reading and being there 💙
