New Year's Visit

Chapter 2

Three hours later, the Doctor was leaning against the kitchen counter, sipping a china cup of tea. Rose came in and stood beside him, resting her head on his shoulder. "Why'd you come in here? I thought you were a party kind of guy." she asked, looking up at him. "I am", he said putting one arm around her. "But I saw that Jackie had had a bit to drink and I got a bit worried that she might come after me.". Rose laughed. "Well, it's only 10:30 and they're all out stone cold drunk. Fancy leaving?" She asked. The Doctor drained his cup and set it down in the sink. He held out his arm, and Rose put hers through it. The Doctor grinned at her and whispered, "I have an idea."

The TARDIS made it's customary wheezing-groaning landing, and the Doctor stood next to the console. He had changed out of his blue pinstripe suit into a black tuxedo. He had kept his red converse on, however. Now he was just waiting for Rose to come out of the TARDIS changing room. He heard her footsteps and turned around. He looked at her and was speechless. She was wearing a stunning floor length ball gown and her blonde hair had been done up in a bun. She smiled nervously. "What do you think?" She asked. "I think you are the most beautiful woman I have ever seen." He replied softly. She smiled a little more confidently and held out her hand. "Let's go!". The Doctor took her hand and they pushed open the TARDIS doors. They stepped out and Rose gasped. They were standing on a polished wooden floor like a dance floor and the inky black sky above them glittered with thousands of stars and three moons. "Welcome to Althea. It's the best high-class party planet in the universe. And it's only 7:30, so we have the entire evening." The Doctor said, looking at Rose. She turned to him. "Thank you." She whispered softly. He squeezed her hand. "Well, allons-y!"
