Walking down the cobbled street bordered by trees which looked as if they were studded with tiny diamonds, the Doctor and Rose smiled at each other. They had eaten a candlelight dinner at an open air restaurant, danced together for hours and strolled through the beautiful gardens that seemed to be everywhere on Althea. "Well, it's almost midnight. Come on." He led her over to a small bridge over a miniature river. "Any second now." he said. Suddenly, the sky was filled with color. Huge fireworks exploded into being all around them. Rose laughed in astonishment and wonder. After the explosions died down, the Doctor turned to her. "Happy New Year." He said. She looked up at him and put her arms around his neck. He put his around her waist. "Happy New Year." She replied softly, looking into his eyes. "Rose Tyler, I love you." He whispered. She leaned in. "I love you." Standing under the sparkling sky, their lips met.
