Chapter 3

Armin P.O.V
"A mermaid," she giggles.

(Y/N) P.O.V

'Wow, I've never been this close to a human before! This is so cool!' I took in the human boy's features, his golden blonde hair that reached his chin, his skinny yet well built figure, his cute little nose and those ocean blue eyes. I just stared at him in amazement, but something was off, I felt like was looking at me in fear from the way he just kept moving away from me. "Uhm... I'm sorry if I scared you, I didn't mean to," I said trying to start a conversation.

"Huh, oh n-no! It's just I've never seen an actual m-mermaid b-before," he stuttered, "I-I just always thought that they were-" "We were what, fictional!?" I spat back a little annoyed. "Y-yeah, I'm sorry if I hurt your feelings," he apologized. I roll my eyes and hop up to sit on the ledge. I lift my tail up a little bit. "Here, is this enough proof for ya," I say as the boy comes closer.

Armin P.O.V

I calm myself down as I scoot closer to the mermaid before me. " It's okay, you can touch my tail if you want," she says as she gently splashes the water. I hesitate but I slowly reach out. My hands graze over the scaly texture of her tail. "Gah, it's slimy," I exclaimed as I quickly pull my hand back, but then covered my mouth, afraid of offending her again. She only laughs, "Aw, thank you. I rub it with kelp and jelly fish twice a day." I kept looking down at her tail to a point were I think I was just creepily staring.

"Hey buddy, my eyes are up here," she says. "S-sorry," I blush and look away. She slides back into the water and I try to look for her. I then see her jump out of the water and gracefully dive back in like a dolphin. She disappears again. I stand up but immediately fall when something grabs my foot and pulls me down. I panic and shriek seeing it has her. "W-what are you doing?!" "Shhhhh! Calm down, I just wanna know what feet feel like," she says.

I begin to giggle as she inspects my feet. "What's so funny," she asks, "It tickles," I replied. She let go of my leg and I pulled it back. I saw a gummy worn still floating in the water and all of a sudden, a small wave pushes the gummy towards the two of us. The mermaid takes and eats the gummy worm. "Whoa, did you just do that," I asked. "Yeah, but that's nothing compared to what my dad can do. "And what did he do?" "This," she says as she lifts her hand up and motions it to show the atmosphere around us.

"He did all this!?" "Mhmm," she hummed. "Hey, who's there," a voice shouted. 'Oh no, it's Mr. Hannes.' "Shit! I need to go," I exclaimed. I stood up and felt someone grab my wrist, "W-wait, where are you going," she asks. "It was really nice talking with you, but I have to go. If Mr. Hannes catches me here, I'm dead," I tell her. "You'll come back, right?" "Yeah, I will." "Promise?" "Yes, I promise, now you go hide too," I say as I grab my backpack and watch as the mermaid goes back underwater. I hurry to my bike to get home. When I arrived, I quietly went to my room and immediately fell asleep.
