"so? Where have you been?!"

The two guy were now sitting at the exact same position at the cafe they met the day before. Kid is silently waiting for him to spill out what's wrong while he sip his hot coffee, not even taking his eyes off of his friend. At the other hand, Soul looks so messed up. He had both of his elbows at the table while he angrily tug his hair with both hands. He really looks upset.

He gave up and relax his back at the chair, closed his eyes while gently massaging his temples with one hand.

"where's star?"

" he said something that needs to be taken care off by him."

"good"

He runs his hand on his hair. He really looks like a model from some hot mens magazine when he did so.

"I... I fuck someone, again, last night, i didn't mean it though!! I- i was under the influence of alcohol,  i messed up ok.. I-im just so..."

His voice isn't leaving his lips as he tries to find an appropriate words for what he feels. He can't even look at him as he confess what happened to him.

"upset?"

His friend ask. That is when he finally look straight to him. He's really sharp, he thinks and accept that he can never hide something to him. As expected to kid

" yeah, that, I, i didn't manage to handle my liquor and end up doing it with someone who's a total stranger to me."

"well its an achievement, you did i with a total stranger to you, then leave her as soon as you woke up. Isnt it?"

He smirks when he saw the twisted face that soul is making.

"damn it kid!, you psycho!"

"hahaha ok ok. Calm down. Is it because of the girl yesterday? The one with almost scythe shape music note tattoo at her nape?"

He was taken back of what he said, searching for an answer from his friend.

"saw it since she's wearing her hair in a high ponytail, she's also wearing an off shoulder dress. I saw the way you looked at her"

He recalled how she looks yesterday, and all that he remembered was her face, he didn't pay attention to what she wear or how she made her hair, but remembered that she's really a fan of 'off shoulders' so he thinks that kid is right.

"is she.."

"Maka"

'bittersweet'

The way her name rolled into his lips felt so really good, yet a fang of guilt, pain and longing bite into his heart when he always did.

"it's been so long since i last saw her face, she still look so angelic, yet so fierce"

Kid took another sip into his coffee before he continue.

"so she is 'that' girl? The one you always tell me before when i was still in abroad?"

He just nod before he close his eyes as he recalled what happened at that cafe yesterday.

"Soul"

'he became still, as if time stops right before his eyes, as he looked, deep into that wonderful emeralds which makes him feel like he was drowning with it'

Then she smile. A very genuine one. Which broke the ice, his thoughs, and his heart. He can feel his eyes widen, wider as possible as it is. But made and always keep his cool demeanour, that he manage to master through years.

He didnt expect it.

But she's right infront of his own eyes, smiling, like she always did when he saw him, that sweet smile he longed to see for years.

After he, himself broke that beautiful smile of that beautiful doll.

He can feel his eyes heat, threatening to betray him when she speaks again to him, like the way she always did.

"It's been a long time"

Her eyes are also smiling, like she's really happy to see him again.

"Yeah, i-it's good to see you"

He manage to speak after arranging his wild thoughts which is breaking him every single second which he hope she didnt saw, he was stammering, he even shifted his weight from one leg to another just to hide it. She stands there, so near, yet so far for him to touch.

That is when her phone rang again, then he breathed, he didnt notice that he was holding it.

"ok i'll send it as soon as i came home. Thank you"

She put the phone down with a smile and looked again to him

"its really nice to see you again too Soul, but uhh, will you excuse us, coz' we have to go now"

Came into his senses and realize that he is actually blocking their way out and move aside.

"yeah sure"

She's still holding that smile saying thank you to him as she tugged Liz which is still shock from seeing him. They are now reaching the stairs when he talked again.

'hey Maka'

'hmm?'

She paused and looked at him once again. Liz is also looking at him right now, which he swears, she was totally murdering him in her own thoughts at that very moment.

"Take care"

He finally said.

She just give him another sweet smile, turns her back at him, and continue to walk away. Away from his presence.

He can almost hear Liz saying,

"wait for me Maka!!"

As they hurried down to the first floor and out of the cafe.

"do you still loved her?"

Kid said as soon as he reopen his eyes, he can feel his face is blank by the way Kid is looking at him, he just look straight to his eyes saying:

"I do.."

"and it's the only promise i made, which I didnt know how I managed to keep over these years"

He looked at the view of the morning city which makes him feels like he was being suffocated with and closed his eyes once again.

'yes, i do still love her, but nothing i can do to have her back now. Which i guess my karma after what had happen, after I destroy the one i claimed that i love.'
