As I sat on the rock
That we were meant to share,
I looked out on the flock
That we were meant to bare.
The valleys groves, plants, and fields,
The lengthy woods and steeping mountain,
Was meant as ours to reveal,
We were meant to sing by the fountain.
We were made to lay in a bed of roses,
And to wear the cap of kirtle.
To smell the fragrance of the posies,
And to bask in detail of the myrtle.
We were meant to wear soft wool,
To share some of finest gold.
To eat until our stomach's full,
But now I eat alone, alone and cold.
Yes, we were meant to live together,
But perhaps life is not living.
My world is shattered, made to wither,
And my light is slowly, slowly, giving.
"Come live with me and be thy love".
I fear the day just as the moon,
For my soul is meant to be above,
So do not worry, I'll join you soon.
