Please don't copy my work. It has taken me a whole two years to write this one chapter. Hopefully I wont take as long to write the other chapters 😂

The pale moon hung low in the night sky as Eternity collapsed onto her bed. Her room in the small, cramped servant's hall, had two features: a narrow window with a fitted shutter, just above her crudely crafted wardrobe, and a small cracked mirror parallel to her bed. Her bed was too small for her now.

The moon seemed strangely comforting to Eternity tonight. Memories of last evening's dinner party faded beneath the beams of moonlight. The Lord was not a tyrant, as her many masters before him. He was reasonably well tempered and treated his slaves with kindness. Still, Eternity's life as a slave was not a happy one, and she had no hope for anything better.

Sipping a towel into the small basin beside her bed, Eternity washed away the sweat and grime of another day's labour. A hard day's work usually tired her out so much that she collapsed on her bed, asleep, without changing into her sleep wear.

That night, she dreamed what it was like to be nobility, with enough wealth and power to have a soft bed, clothes that weren't so scratchy and enough money to care for a family.
