"Ok, girls, keep moving, we've got a lot to do today, places to go, and most importantly, people to see!"

Please, happy person who yells, it's 5 AM. Shut up.

"Scarlett!! I am so excited, we're finally leaving. We are going to see men. In real life. Can you believe it?!" Loralee more or less screamed in my ear. We were right in front of the school gates, on an asphalt road. The fact that we were outside the gates was already special. We only went outsides the gates on field trips, and those were very rare.

"Nope, not really. Please Lor, I am still trying to get some sleep here." I was sitting ony my suitcase, leaning on my elbows.

"Oops, sorry. You didn't sleep that good? You nervous?" she said, wiggling her eyebrows.

I covered my hands with my face. "Loralee, don't pretend like you aren't! Everyone is. Why can't I be?"

"Ok, ok, sorry. Hey, I'll get you a window seat!"

And she was off again to go talk to someone else about how 'totally enormously awesome' Rhodennus was supposed to be.

"Girls! Gather around, we're going to check if everyone's here and then board the Xeren." Proclamations of wonder rose from the crowd. Xeren? What in the world was that?

"Ok, Scarlett Raybould?"

I raised my hand.

"Scarlett, good you are here!" Ha! Like I had a choice, I thought. "... Everyone, it's Scarlett's birthday today!"

And that's where Loralee had to pop in. "Ms. Dawes, can we sing Scarlett a song, like they used to in the past?"

Ms. Dawes, the teacher who was reading our names, smiled at her.

Please say no, please say no, please say no.

"Why, of course we can!" Great. "Let us finish this list first and then we could do that while waiting on the Xeren."

Again, that word. It sounds like a stomach ache.

I glared at Loralee but she just smiled innocenlty at me, and I rolled my eyes.

"Ok, so everyone is here! Scarlett, step forward?"

I stood next to Ms. Dawes, and all the girls from my year started singing. Well, except for Tiger Lily and her minions, but who cares. I certainly didn't.

"Hapy birthday to you, happy birthday to you..." I grinned. I had a feeling this trip could be more fun that I thought first.

Everyone applauded when the song was finished, including me. I was probably grinning like a loony but that didn't matter.

Then, out of nowhere, the Xeren appeared. Cries of wonder rose from the crowd that gathered in front of the gate. I just stared, marvelled. It looked like a train, which we've leared about it history, but it appeared to be floating in the air, about three feet above the ground. The Xeren was also quite long, about 250 feet I guessed, which was good since all 600 of us had to fit in there. And we were only the first group. After us, 9 groups would follow us, on their way to Rhodennus.

"Okay everyone, this is the Xeren! It will take us directly over the sea, to Rhodennus." Ms. Beckett said. Now that I was so close, only the word sent shivers down my spine already.

All of a sudden, I couldn't help but wonder how my mother felt at this point.

Huh. Weird. I shook the thought off quickly, determined to try and enjoy this trip. As was Lorelai it seemed. "This is going to be amazing," she gushed. "Doesn't it look super cool, Scarlett?"
