"U-Uhm. Margrette." David mumbled making my mother and I look at him shocked. No one my mother hired was aloud to speak to my mother.
"Did you just-" My mother started only to have David speak some more.
"I quit." My mother took a step back her jaw hanging low, obviously appalled by his words.
"Excuse me." She mother fixed her posture crossing her arms. Her famous eyebrow raised.
David stood himself up straight, not bothered by her tone of voice. "I said I quit. I can't work like this anymore."
Tears sprung in his eyes as he stormed out of the house.
"Pfft." I didn't realize that I had started laughing until my mother smacked my head.
"Shut up Zoey." I put my hands up to surrender walking away up to my room.
I plopped down on my head and sighed. The truth is my mother's been doing this ever since my father passed away last year. Countless of young men have been hired to work in my house, and they have all quit on my mother. My mother was vile. She would, touch them, and they wouldn't be and to anything or else they'd be fired at her hands. Shaking off these thoughts put my headphones in and started to feel myself fall asleep.

"Zoey, dinner." I shot up out of bed. My music had stopped playing, how long had I been asleep... I looked at my phone to see it read 9 o'clock.
I scratched my head and changed into some shorts and a long baggy T that covered up the shorts. I ran down the long staircase realizing that I was actually hungry. I have way to big of a house for 2 people to live in. My mother however lets her worker live here as well. As I neared the end of the staircase I fell right on my butt seeing what was infront of me.
I quickly stood up and straightened myself out infront of my mother and the most attractive guy I've ever seen in my life. He looked about my age, maybe a little older. His hair was jet black and his eyes sparkled green. His skin was pale and his lips were a soft pink and they were more on the thin side but still plump enough for me. He had a hint of freckles on his cheeks as well.
"This is Daniel." My mother said snapping me out of my thoughts. "The new worker."
"Well that was fast." I said crossing my arms at her. I shot her a look making her roll her eyes.
"He's a friend of a friend." I rolled my eyes at her words.
"Whatever that's what you always say." I walked past them both. I'm sorry but I can stare at Daniel later, I'm starving.
"Zoey Rey Foster." My mother called from behind me as I walked away. I gave her a wave behind my head without looking at her. She scoffed at me.
"Daniel, fetch me a glass of wine will you?" I heard my mother say from the living room.
I sat down at the table with a slice of pizza that my mother had ordered for us to eat. Never together though, she's always with her "workers."
I bit into the pizza as Danny ( Daniel ) came into the kitchen. He looked around the kitchen then stopped and looked at me.
"Wine?" He nodded at what I said.
I stood up and walked to the cupboard pulling out my mother's favourite aged wine. I gave the bottle to him along with two wine glasses.
