In the beginning, their relationship was a precious treasure waiting to be found.
Their matching blue eyes lit up like the glorious skies,
and the angels could be heard singing in harmony.
Their affection for each other was so powerful,
as if destiny desired for these doves to always live in peace.
Still, there was another voice that craved,
“I forbid these two to become one,
for their love is not true.”
Over the years, the doves’ relationship and reliance for each other matured.
They believed that their hearts were embraced as one.
They sniggered and sang with their vocals,
even waltzed on the dance floor,
and fell into what seemed to be an everlasting trance.
The same as before,
the voice echoed,
“I forbid these two to become one,
for their love is not true.”
Finally come that special day, when the male dove took off
to express his eternal adoration to his lover.
He soared through the meadow
where the roses were just beginning to bloom.
When the dove arrived with his tuxedo and tie.
his companion was nowhere to found.
What remained was nothing but ashes
and pieces of her sashes,
and a note that read,
“I forbid you two to become one,
for your love is not true.”

FYI - This poem is the reason I began to write. For the first time, I was proud of something I'd written because it was my idea. My brain came up with it, not a teacher's. Completely and utterly . . . mine. And I thought it was brilliant.
