"Babe, your heart is beating really fast. What's going on?" I asked as Scott began getting ready for Lacrosse practice outside by the field.
"I'm fine," he mumbled.
"Scott, you can't lie to me. What's wrong?" I crossed my arms stubbornly.
"Just- I want to be team captain."
"Scott, you shouldn't even be worrying about this. You've been doing really well in school, just like Coach wanted. Of course you'll still be captain." I reassured him.
"Why are you even doubting yourself?" Stiles asked, popping out of nowhere.
"Coach never told me that I was back on the team. He just told me to show up at tryouts today." Scott shook his head.
"We got bigger things to worry about anyways," Stiles brushed it off, but I was genuinely concerned about how worried Scott was about this whole team captain situation. Stiles then continued, "Did you tell Argent?"
"I texted him but he didn't get back to me." Scott answered.
"Wait, what? You told him his sister came back from the dead...over a text?" I clarified.
"You didn't...please tell me you didn't." Stiles shook his head, looking down and pinching the bridge of his nose.
"I didn't have the money to call France." Scott shrugged.
"Yeah, you think you got money problems?" Stiles sighed.
I kept my mouth shut regarding my uncle and mine's financial situation, seeing as how Stiles probably had it worse. However, with my uncle being unemployed and looking for any type of work, things have been tight.
Stiles continued, thankfully distracting me from the worries I had going on at home, "Try paying for an MRI and a visit to Eichen House."
Scott frowned, "Another notice?"
"Yeah, and this one said, 'Final.'" Stiles told us.
My eyes faded away from him as I noticed the players on the field practicing, however one of them stood out compared to the others. He was fast, dodging every goal that was aimed at him from every angel. He made it look so easy, he definitely had skill.
Stiles continued, "Now, what the hell are we even doing here anyway? We got like 117 million problems and worrying about our status on the lacrosse team is not one of them."
"It should be now," I exhaled feeling nervous for the two boys.
They both looked over to who I was watching.
"Who the hell is that?" Stiles exclaimed.
"New kid," I scoffed, "Now, both of you, get your cute asses out there and practice." I instructed before slapping both Scott and Stiles butts, causing them to jump and look at me with shock.
