Mairin's POV~~~

I quietly closed my bedroom door and ran down the hall. It was around 1 in the morning and I was escaping.

I walked to the front doors and and quietly opened the door.

"Princess?" I stopped in my tracks. Two guards were behind me. "What are you doing my lady?" The first guard asked. "I-I need to go...uhhh..out.." I said and tried to run. "Princess!" The second guard yelled. I ran down the steps and ran across the lawn.

I ran to the wall, out of breath. I stopped to look around. It was very hard to see due to the dark. I saw the wall and decided to climb–it was the only way out.

I latched my foot into a chipped brick and began to climb. My hands kept slipping, but I made it. I swung my leg to the other side of the wall and began to climb down.

Once I made it to the ground, I began to run. I was free! I was finally free! I ran down the long path to the village. I knew where Serena's house was–at least I think.

I slowed down my pace when I heard a whimper. "H-Hello?" I was kinda nervous. The whimper grew louder, it was coming from a rock. I ran over and saw a Pokemon trapped under it. "Oh my god!" I gasped and picked up the rock. A small puffy Pokemon was under it. It's wing was bleeding and the bird looked up at me with helpless, pleading eyes.

I've seen this Pokemon in a book before. A Swablue! "You poor thing!" I rubbed it's head–which seemed to soothe it. I smiled and I heard a twig snap. I stopped and jerked back. What was that? I stood up with the Swablue in my arms.

I began to hear footsteps. They were coming closer and closer...

"Huh, you beat me." I nearly jumped up at the voice. I turned around and saw a young man with black hair, blue eyes, blue jeans, navy blue shirt, and a worn out black sweatshirt. To be honest, he was kinda handsome...wait what?!

"Umm..beat you to what?" I asked, confused. "See, I usually help Pokemon who are hurt. I take them back to my home and heal them, then let them go when they're fully healed." The guy said and kneeled down to pet the hurt Pokemon.

"Oh. Well that's very sweet." I replied. "Yeah I guess–" the guy stopped when he met my eyes. "–no way...y-you're Princess–!" I put my hand over my mouth before he could say anything else. "Shhhhhh! I'm escaping!" I whispered. The guy's eyes widened "Escape! Why?" "Because I'm forced to marry Prince Ash! I really don't want to marry him! I hate him!" I wanted to cry. He must've saw my tears because he placed his hand on my shoulder. It felt so comforting...

"Hey, it's okay. How about you come back to my place and warm up. You look freezing!" He said. He was right, I was freezing. "That would be great thank you!" I replied.

"By the way, I'm Alain!"
