Marie had just wanted to be normal. Maybe this school would be her fresh start. Hopefully. She walked into her new school and hurried to the office to pick up a schedule. She was already late. Her brown hair had floated behind her in small dust clouds. She quickly made them disappear as she knocked on the door to her class. The teacher opened the door. She had a warm smile and a black dress with black heels. She looked welcoming yet she looked like she knew what Marie was. Did she? She gestured to a seat at the back of the class. Marie sighed with relief. That was the place where she wanted to be was in the back of the class. She walked casually to her seat and sat slumped in her chair. This was her history class. She had always loved history. Though what they were talking about made her feel uneasy. They were talking about her kind. Hybrid immortal creatures. She slumped in her seat even further. The teacher took one look at her and nodded seeing that the conversation was making her feel uncomfortable. She moved on to a different subject. Marie barely even payed attention. Under her desk she messed with the dust that she could create even at her worst of moments. It had always been purple or pink. It really depended on her mood. Her hair was brown because her mom's hair used to be brown.
The bell rang and she stood starting to walk out when a hand grabbed her shoulder. She spun aroun=d to see the teacher standing before her. Her hair was now tied back into a bun clipped with hair clips. "Marie I am sorry that I made you uncomfortable today with the subject. I did not mean to. I just found out about you when you enrolled a few weeks ago. Though I suggest that you must be a little more careful with you magic around these students. They um.... Well they are a little startled and mean about different people with different abilities." Marie nodded understanding how that went. She had been outcasted by so many people that it broke her heart until she didn't have one anymore. Being a witch and fairy had been enough for her. "Though there are some special classes for you to take and none of them will know. Some classes that specialize your skills and talents. Here is your new schedule." She handed Marie a piece of paper with classes and time listed all over. "This was the last class of the day so you can explore all you want." Marie nodded and hurried out of the classroom. She stuffed the schedule into the pocket of her black skinny jeans and purple tank top. She wore black combat boots. This was her normal getup. She looked at all of the laughing and smiling people or students she should say. Would they be her friend or just outcast her like all of the others she had previously met?
Would she put them all in danger like she had her previous friends that had died because she hadn't been quick enough to save them. She wouldn't let that happen this time. She hoped that all of the danger had not followed her here. She wished to have one care free school with no danger what so ever. That would happen wouldn't it? Could it happen? She sighed heavily and made her way to a lonely table at the end of the huge courtyard. She didn't deserve friends. She knew that it would just be a matter of time before she got exposed all over again and the cycle restarted. A tall girl with short blond hair and all black clothing came and sat beside her. "Hi I'm Athina." She smiled and Marie smiled back.
"Marie." She said simply trying to play it cool. She had only been here a few hours and she might already have her a new friend. "I like your outfit. It suits you." She said happily and Athina bit her lip her mouth curving into a wicked grin.
"I love black. I also am a little gothic if you don't mind."
"I don't mind at all." They were apart from everyone else in the courtyard. A large shadow swooped over Marie's head and she looked up grimacing. Uh oh. She thought wishing that she had never even spoken. The shadow glided down creating a fire ring around her new friend that she would soon have to lose. She got up and looked at the shadow scowling. A loud scream could be heard. Athina was burning up as she thought. She bit her lip and breathed heavily hot tears burning at her eyes. Quickly she made water with her hands. She sprayed it on Athina and the fire quickly went out. A tall man dressed in black came out of the shadows. He had been the shadow today. She walked toward him standing angrily and bravely. He threw the dagger. She grabbed it and pulled out her own.
"So Marie this is the way you want to do this?" He asked quietly and she nodded.
"This is the only way to protect them. I will die for them before I ever surrender to you." She retorted and aimed for his side. He grabbed her hand and pulled her towards him. She watched his green eyes glisten in the light like her purple eyes did. He watched as the anger on her face slowly drained to nothing. He was thinking on doing something to her. but everyone else had to be away. He let go and disappeared leaving his blade with her. She held the dagger weakly in her hand. She felt all eyes on her. She casually just walked passed them like nothing had happened. Athina was burnt up, but soaking wet as water dripped from her hair. She didn't even get a thank you for saving her life. Wow. This was exactly the same way she had always been treated. Nothing would change after all.
