The sky was bright blue and it was another 70 degree day with only hints of clouds in the sky. On this day, Charlie Gray and her friend, Riley Rivers, were sitting in their dorm, their legs shaking with anticipation of something to do. Riley got up after awhile and took Charlie's hand nodding her head.
" Girl, let's go to the park or something." Riley smiled as the two walked out the door. It seemed that almost every college student was outside at the park. Charlie noticed that most of the boys were playing some kind of sport but one. Riley must have noticed him also because she nudged Charlie's arm.
" He looks lonely. You should say hi." Riley suggested pushing Charlie toward the boy.
" Riley, just because you have a boyfriend doesn't mean that I necessarily want one." Charlie frowned looking at her friend with shock. ' But I do.' Charlie thought taking another glance at the boy. This time the boy looked back at her with bright blue eyes shining in the sun. Charlie turned her head abruptly away from his gaze and started to walk away from Riley, going toward her dorm. In her head, Charlie couldn't help but think on how she was embarrassed to have been caught looking at a boy by the boy she was looking at.
" Charlie! Wait!" Charlie could hear Riley's loud feet behind her. 'She can't see my face.' Charlie decided walking faster. She could tell her cheeks were a bright red just by the way her face felt burning hot.
" Riley, he looked at me." Charlie gave in turning toward her best friend with nervous eyes. Riley smiled.
" Aww Charlie. That's good that he looked at you." Riley, still smiling, gave her friend a hug, reassuring her that everything was fine. Charlie shook her head.
" But he caught me looking at him, how embarrassing is that." Charlie pulled away from the hug and crossed her arms across her chest. Riley nodded agreeing with her.
" Yes that is embarrassing but, he might like you or something. He obviously noticed you." Riley suggested, starting to walk to their door once again. Charlie turned and followed Riley shaking her head in disbelief. ' Yeah, sure.' She thought.
When the girls reached the dorm room door, Charlie stopped and listened to the sound of footsteps close behind her. Charlie then whipped her head around to see a boy looking her up and down.
" May I help you?" She asked rolling her eyes at him. The boy smiled and shook his head. ' Where is Riley when you need her?' Charlie thought, starting to doubt what might happen.
" No, no you do not but I am guessing your name is Charlie." The boy stated moving his green eyes gaze to her eyes, his smile turning into a smirk. ' Oh my gosh.' Charlie thought, annoyed.
" Listen, I don't know who you are or even want to know who you are so if you'll excuse me, I have to go to my dorm." Charlie confirmed starting to walk in her dorm room but the boys voice quickly stopped her.
" Well then, I'll tell you anyway. My name is Haden White, I am the quarterback of the football team and my friend asked me to talk to you." The boy, Haden, informed Charlie and his lips started to curve into a smirk again. With hearing this, Charlie became nervous at the fact that his friend could be any boy at this college.
" Umm, who is your friend?" Charlie asked taking a step back, fear in her eyes. With this reaction, Haden took a step forward.
" Well his name is Gabriel Lake and he told me you looked at him earlier." Haden answered with a bit of laughter. 'He can't know it was me, that just can't happen. I have to cover myself.' Charlie thought once again feeling both embarrassed and scared.
" I was looking at more then one person today so how did he pick me out. Thousands must have been looking at him." Charlie covered up quickly. Haden tilted his head in confusion and Charlie nodded, trying to be convincing. For a minute, there was pure silence and Charlie just looked at the tan walls, trying not to look suspicious. Emotions crowded Charlie's head as another boys voice spoke.
" Haden, I did not send you to harass her." The boys voice was husky and made Charlie shiver. ' Just another college boy. Yeah just another college boy.' Charlie told herself thinking of something to say to defend her. 'Maybe something like, Sorry thought you were someone else or, My friend dared me.' Charlie decided taking a gulp and turning around to face the unknown boy.
" Crap." Charlie silently said taking a look in the boys bright blue eyes. The boy smiled at her with his perfectly straight teeth and Charlie about fainted. Luckily someone came into presence of the group.
" Wow Charlie! I didn't know you were having a party out here!" Riley barged in, taking a quick look at Haden. Charlie could tell that her best friend found the green eyed, blond haired boy attractive, but Riley has a boyfriend named Brody Collins. He was an okay kind of guy but something about him made Charlie suspicious.
"Riley! Thank goodness you're here. I thought I was going to faint or something." Charlie whispered into her friends ear, and having a feeling that the boys were looking at her. They were.
" Ohhhh it's fine. So why don't you boys come in?" Riley asked motioning them to come in. Haden quickly nodded without hesitation and the other boy waited until both girls walked in to do the same.
Through a boring conversation, Charlie got a lot out of it. She found out that Gabriel Lake was the boy she looked at, to add to that she found out that Haden and Riley had a lot in common. Gabriel on the other hand, hardly talked, the same with Charlie, but they both would find each other's eyes during a conversation.
When the boys left, before that Gabriel looked at Charlie and said,"It was very nice to meet you. See you soon." Then he walked out leaving Charlie with so many questions. But leaving Riley with a smirk.
" There will be more adventures coming Charlie. We won't be just college girls for long." Riley spoke with a voice that sounded like she knew what she was saying. But in her head, Charlie thought with a bit of a giggle,
' Yes, we won't be just college girls.' Both girls then sat on their beds and found out that the adventure they were going to have, didn't have to wait long.
