Prologue
Rosewood, 1796
The leaves on the trees were beginning to fall, Autumn was coming. The air was cold and the sky was dark, the neighbors walked by and smiled, nodding politely. Carriages passed and the horses clicked and clacked on the pavement. A scream from inside the house was heard, and Galen Hart turned with worry. His wife, Amaranth Hart, had been in labor for quite a while now. With hesitation he let out a sigh and walked into the house. She was on the bed, with her baby in arms. A little pink thing with red hair and beautiful big blue eyes.
"What's the matter, Amaranth?" Asked Galen, Amaranth looked down at her baby and sighed, her head was thrown back and her eyes closed. She was still suffering from the pain of delivering that little baby. Galen walked towards her and took the baby, nodding at the maids to be dismissed and out the room. The baby was small and delicate, a little thing that had to be protected from evil "I'm going to take her to Anabelle, I have to leave to the county now, but I shall be back in an hour"
Amaranth couldn't do anything but nod, she watched as Galen walked out the room with her baby and closed the door behind him. She felt a tear run down her face, she wanted to protect her baby, to keep her in her arms all along. But she couldn't move, all her energy, all her will was in that little thing. She stood up with all her force from the bed, untangling herself from the hot white sheets. She looked out the window, beyond the trees into the pitch black see of darkness. Then, as if calling at her she heard it. It was death calling out her name. Evil was coming and ready to knock at her door. She turned away from that window and looked at the door her baby had just walked out of, she knew the time had come. She closed her eyes and a single tear rolled down her sweaty cheek, she was ready.
"Anabelle, I'm going to be gone for a while, please do take care of her" Galen said to Anabelle "if you are to be out with Andrew Hamilton, give her to be taken care by Alisha"
"Yes Galen, where is my sister?" Anabelle asked.
"She is resting in her room, please do not disturb her, she will be fine" Galen walked to the door with his coat and gloves on, he hesitated before opening it and glanced up. His eyes were fixed upstairs where Amaranths room would be. After a couple of seconds, he opened the door and began to walk out, leaving them behind. He knew it was a big mistake but he didn't care, he felt betrayal and hatred inside of him, it was now that everything would change.
