When I was little, my mother would tell me stories. The stories would be about how people lived before the War, before the world stopped turning. I would look up at the sky with wide eyes, wondering which of the twinkling lights above was our lost planet.
She would tell me, that in order to survive, the people of our planet had to fly away to the place where we are now. But before all that happened, our world was made of three realms, the realms of Time. There were the realms of Day and Night, who were constantly bickering with each other. And the Kingdom realm of Dawn and Dusk sat in between the two arguing realms, keeping them from total war.
My mother would tell me about the Great Princesses, Nick, Cas, and Kris, one from each realm. Kris was from the Kingdom of Midnight in the realm of Night, while Cas was from the Kingdom of Evening in the realm of Day. Nick was from the Kingdom realm of Dawn and Dusk. They were chosen by the Gods to save their world from the Great War between Night and Day.
These were my favorite stories about our history, about how we came to Earth, how we ended up living spread out across this new world with no one noticing that we came. My mother would tell me when I was little that I was a princess, but I knew then that it wasn’t possible; all parents told their daughters that they were princesses.
But since my mother’s passing, I’ve found out that was not totally a lie. I might be a princess after all, a descendent of one of the royal families from our world of Time. And that I have a tied destiny with the fate of our new world.
