He jumped out of bed... Where was he? What was he doing here and how did he get here? All this questions raced to and fro in his mind. His eyes shot from one corner of the room to the other...this was not a place familiar to his memory. It looked old, maybe an ancient house abandoned in the middle of nowhere!

He looked around, the room was vast and dim with an unmistakable odour of a leather and pipe tobacco. The dense white putrid fumes penetrated through his nose, creating an itchy feeling that provoked him to think...the sudden screams..the whirling wind...the red, green and brown ghosts...his parents...the jade...the desert...nothing seemed to add up!

He was dreaming...he pinched himself...no! He wasn't, then he was dead...yes!But was this how dead people felt? Trapped in their own imagination without the strength to come out? He wondered.

"Calm down my boy, " a deep Yorkshire accent voice said. "You are safe now. "

He stood petrified...where the hell did this guy come from? Another imagination from his mind...he could not believe it...

"Who are you? " he asked the man who was now standing by the window, puffing away the cigar and looking at the sky as though he was in search of something. Then the man turned.

"Uncle Scott! " he called out in disbelief.
Scott noded.
"But...but how comes? "
"I was talking to your mother over the phone when it all happened.

Then it hit him, his parents! Where were they? How were they? Fine?...he had to go and meet them! But how while he did not even know where he was at the moment?

" How are they?... Are they fine?... Where are they...? "

Scott was silent.

"Tell me uncle... Were you able to save them...talk to me! "

Not a word...he was silent. The silence was great and tension could be smelt in the air. Richard watched in disbelief as his uncle went towards the couch that stood beside the crackling fire from the chimney. The silence spoke greatly...more than even words could have done...he glanced at the fire as it continued burning as his eyes became watery. The silence, the silence in the night in which evil roamed around in, searching for anyone to clench its fist on.

The pain rose in him, flooding his eyes with tears which broke into two streams that rapidly cascaded down his cheeks. Like a sharp knife it stabbed his heart, sending spasms of pain through his body. What else was he to say? They were dead... His parents were dead. He slowly  fell onto the bed as he let memories of the unforgotten past flash across his mind. He had already lost his brotherl long ago...and now his parents? He closed his eyes and slowly by slowly drowned into slumberland.

Early the following morning, the hot piercing  sun rays penetrated through the room's window. Birds chattered melodiously as they moved from tree to tree to welcome the new day. A gentle breeze wafted the scent of roses through the ventilations of the house. He slightly moved his head before finally opening his eyes. He lay on the bed, staring blankly at the ceiling, letting his thoughts churn and roll inside his head as he recollected of the events of the previous day. A hot tear drop ran down his cheek as he sat up.

He looked across to the couch where his uncle had lain deep in sleep. He wipped away the tear and rose from bed, putting on the flip-flops that had been packed  just beside the bed.

Suddenly, his heart started pounding hard against its ribcage as quick thoughts flashed  across his mind. He looked at his hand with his eyes widely opened as it vibrated vigorously, fast enough to create two separate images! With his heart in his mouth, he shot out like a lightning bolt, his eyes now dark blue as lightning flashes cut through them. He flung the door open as he sped through the massive maize plantation, leaving a combination of white blinding light and brown dust behind. He ran faster and faster, each step feeling more and more lighter than the other as he paved way through the maize plantations. In the moment he was running...speeding across the maize plantation...then  he was sprawling in the air before finally falling onto the ground with a loud thud!

He looked up, the enormous tree stood in front of him. He sat up, touched his forehead and looked at his hands...he was bleeding, then he felt a certain weird felling on his forehead which immediately seized together with the pain. He touched his forehead once again and looked at his at his hands...but nothing! The wound had already healed!
