JK was so tempted just to stay at his stand up home in his bed for the rest of the day. Last night had been eventful and intense. He took a deep breath and put his head in his hands.
Tae. He had seen Tae. He couldn't believe, after 6 years he had unintentionally ended up in the same place as his best friend. His best friend that he had drifted apart from because of his abduction.
JK grimaced as he looked up at the ceiling. This was getting way too complicated. Firstly Tae and the little girl he was with lied about their identities. Secondly now the syndicate would definitely be after Tae- whether JK like it or not- if Miss Lu told them anything.
JK decided showing up was much better than showing weakness so he got up and continued with his daily morning routine. He decided to skip his workout and drove straight to the office building.
The syndicate had a meeting in the secluded basement as usual. They had renovated it so that it would still look presentable. JK entered the room and was relieved to find that no one had arrived. He sat at the mahogany table and leaned forward.
"What have I become?" He asked quietly. In moments like these- moments of total despair- Jungkook wished he had just gone back home; but his 15 year old self had wanted revenge. As he had grown older he felt as though he owed it to his 14 and 15 year old self to find out the truth of his abduction. To give that lonely, scared child closure.
JK felt hands squeeze his shoulders and he straightened himself up in surprise. "You can trust me." JK looked up to find the owner of the voice. "Miss Lu." He said after clearing his throat. He stood up to his full height in attempt to gain some form of strength.
"Are the rest here yet?" He asked. She let out a gentle laugh, "Not for at least another 20 minutes." She said. "Alright." He responded and sat back down in his chair. He tried to conceal and repress his emotions as he glanced at her momentarily.
"Why do you keep insisting that I reveal weakness to you?" He asked as he raised one of his eyebrows. "Have you ever heard the saying 'keep your friends close and your enemies closer?' While you are doing that you forget about the friend aspect and you hold the weight of the world on your shoulders instead." Miss Lu said as she leaned back in her chair.
"Miss Lu, let me be brutally honest. I have no friends, that's not a part of my goal. Well I used to have one important one a few years ago but that's besides the point-" JK began. "Oh you mean Taehyung- the man who ran into me yesterday." She wasn't asking JK more like telling him.
"Wait wha- how did you know about-" JK murmured as his eyes widened slightly. However before he could finish his sentence or receive an answer the rest of the members entered the meeting room.
JK's look lingered on Miss Lu as everyone else sat down. Taehyung was definitely a dead man if this woman opened her mouth. "Bogsu, Miss Lu how was the BB gala?" Mrs Young.
"It was cut short due to unforeseen circumstances." JK answered as he tried to keep his voice under control. "Gunmen entered the building and everyone evacuated."
Miss Lu cleared her throat. JK glanced at her and felt true dread as she opened her mouth. "This is true. And DF Enterprises was not on the list so I don't think the representative came after all." She said.
JK let out a breath he did not realize he was holding in. "Yes." He nodded in agreement. "Unfortunately we are going to have to start from scratch. Although I do have a current lead that I want to check out." JK continued.
He looked at everyone around the table and they all had a look of despair on their faces. "I will not give up till I find Dragon." JK said as an attempt at reassurance.
