Plot change: Bonnie put him under a spell so that Kol can't get to him when he returned from the dead, him never knowing of Kol's returning before he was put under Bonnie's spell.

This spark a 'season-long' conflict.

Scene reenactment: During a fight over him...

"If you try to kill me, he dies." Damon yelled.

Kol glared. He sped over and picked up his unconscious body and ran out.

"Well shit." Damon sighed. Instead of protecting him, he just let Kol get a clear shot at him.

"Nice going Damon. Now Kol, one of the most murderous people on the planet, has an unconscious ____ all to himself!" Caroline yelled animatedly.

Kol later overhears Bonnie and Elena speak about a type of wolfsbane that can break the spell placed on him.

Plant: Aconitum napellus Album, aka 'White Monkshood'

Kol finds a dealer of special herbs, her name is Angelica.

They find out Kol knows about the plant so they hurry and try to get to the lady before Kol, but are unsuccessful. They tried to convince Angelica into giving the plant to them, but she doesn't. She claims that she doesn't have any of that species of Monkshood, but really she made a deal with Kol; If she gives it to him, instead of his 'friends', he has to kill someone for her.

Kol gets the 'White Monkshood' but when he returns home, he finds his body gone.

Bonnie and Stefan took him away from Kol when they found out that Kol had gotten the plant and they couldn't.

They just wanted to protect him and did what they thought was best.

They kept trying to steal either him or the plant back and forth from each other.

Eventually Bonnie daggers Kol and hides his body. They find both, him and the plant but decided to wait to wake him so they could make up a story to tell him. When he wakes, he doesn't know that Kol is alive. All he 'knows' is that a rogue witch cursed him into a deep sleep.

He eventually finds out what they did and sets out to find Kol, angry at all his 'friends'.
