SAVING GRACE
"Do you feel entitled to a sense of control and make decisions that you think are your own?"
_______________________________________________

When Livia woke up to a very bright light and pain that flared throughout her body, the first thing that came to her mind was James.

She did not care how the light was practically burning her cornea or how her stomach, head and shoulder were both ripping apart in immense pain, all she cared about was James.

The events of their mission going down the hill flooded through her mind. The part where she was shot down and fell to the ground played out especially very clearly.

She felt utterly stupid. She should have seen that coming, she should have done something about it but all she managed to do was screw it up.

And now all the blame would be pinned on James. Of course it would be blamed on James. Alexander Pierce needed a reason to get James strapped in the seat so he could have another go at the electroshock.

But she would not let that happen. It was entirely her fault and she would take the blame for it, not James. She would not let him take the blame for what she did, not anymore.

She turned her head both ways to see how many doctors were in here. There was only one, it looked like she was reading some file, but then closed it and ran out of the room in horror as she mumbled some incoherent words very quickly.

Perfect, Livia thought, she would be able to get out without any doctors stopping her. Her body still was pretty weak, and the pain escalated as she got into a sitting position, but that was only a dull sensation compared to the guilt she was feeling of what was about to happen to James.

Her clothes from the mission were still on her but her shoes were the only thing that were missing. She spotted them at the edge of her bed, and got them on.

Livia wobbled a little and fell onto one of the trays with surgical materials on them, but pushed herself off quickly and left the room.

Nobody paid attention to her, she was just another Hydra operative. But still the paranoia of not getting to James before it was too late was settling in her, and therefore she increased her pace towards the electroshock room.

Of course there were guards in front of the room, Livia thought as spotted two in their black attire when she rounded the corner. It was a total shot in the dark but she continued walking towards the door, hoping they would not stop her.

She was so hopeful that she would actually make it through until one of the guards put his hand out and stopped her. "I'm going to have to know who you are in order for you to pass, and if you are authorized to come in or not."

Livia huffed out in annoyance as she ran her hand through her hair. God damnit it she thought. She had a doubt that this would happen. She turned back to the guards. "I'm the asset's handler, I'm authorized to go anywhere my asset is detained. My reason is to see what my asset is doing as of right now, so it would be nice if you would let me in."

Both the guards gave a look to each other, and then one of them spoke, "I'm sorry but we were told to not let anybody else in, even the asset's handler. This is completely between the asset and Mr. Alexander Pierce. Nobody else is allowed until Mr. Pierce allows them to come in."
