AN: This is about the place I grew up. I wrote it while I was going to college at BIMM in Brighton just over a year ago (Today's date: Sunday, 23rd April 2017). I apologise for the open mic style ANs but that's the kinda shit you're gonna get if you're putting yourself through the torment of reading this book thing.

Oh Hastings

I'm just wasting away

Shipwrecked on your stony shore

You used to seem so big

But now you're just not big enough for me

And there's so much more

Out there in the world for me to see

With cliffs so sheer

And a burnt-down pier

I grew up here

You're the town that holds all of my years

And I made so many plans

But I don't know if I can

Go through with really leaving when

This town holds so much meaning

Oh Hastings

I'm still waiting

Just a few roads from your stony shore

Well I made up my mind

And set my pace

But I'm still standing in the same damn place

So it's not

'I'm Waiting'

Its 'What am I waiting for?'

With cliffs i feared

And reopened pier

I grew up here

You're the town that holds all of my years

AN: I realise the story i was trying to tell in the verses seems a little rushed but i'm not completely finished with it and will probably go back to it at a later date to tweak some things.
