Hello all! I must admit this is a first for me, sending my work into the great big wide world known as the internet, but here goes! It's been a while since I've written anything, so excuse the awkwardness as I get back into the rhythm. I've never written fan fiction like this before, so here goes nothing. Sit down, relax, and read about Loki's and Jenna's adventures.

Oh yes, I should mention that I don't own Loki or any other Marvel characters. I feel your tears of compassion.

Chapter 1: The Party

~~~~~~~~~~~~
Stuttgard, Germany
"Jenna, you've got that deer in the headlights look again. Snap out of it!"
I shot a glare at my friend Kelsey as we entered the ballroom where the party was being held. The room itself was beautiful. White and gold tiles lined the walls and floors, while banners with German lettering on them draped from the ceiling. A large white altar with golden heads of bulls at the end stood in the middle of the room. Men and women in glamorous clothing strolled about as they sipped wine and conversed amongst each other in German and English. A woman walked by and looked me up and down, a sneer on her face. I looked down as well, and I felt myself blush.
"You didn't mention that people usually wear floor-length dresses to these things, Kelse," I said quietly. "A warning would've been nice."
Kelsey glanced at my dress and then at the people around us. While every other woman in the room modeled gorgeous gowns that brushed the floor, I had opted to go for a blouse and skirt combination that gave the illusion of a dress. My dark gray skirt stopped just below my knees, and I had paired it with a great and white striped knit blouse. My long golden-brown hair was pushed back with a simple headband. Compared to the glamorous women about me, I felt and looked horribly under-dressed.
Kelsey flipped her blond hair behind her shoulder and snorted. "You look fine."
"Says the girl in the ball gown," I replied. Kelsey's laugh was cut short as a man across the room tapped on a microphone and began saying something in German. We walked towards him, as did the other people. I stepped out of the way of the massive altar to avoid being skewered by the bull's horns. They hadn't even bothered to put drinks or hors d'oeuvres on the table-like structure. It was a waste of space in my opinion.
Kelsey and I stood near the back of the crowd surrounding the speaker. I sighed and looked at my watch. Knowing men in general, this speech could take a while.
"I'm going to the bathroom, Kelse," I whispered. She shrugged, her attention focused ahead. Walking around the crowd, I began to climb the elaborate staircase. Why in the world they would put the bathrooms upstairs was beyond me. European customs were baffling. As I turned onto the landing my face slammed into a man's chest and I began to fall backwards. My hands flailed wildly for something to steady me, and they latched onto the man's scarf and the lapels of his long coat. I pulled myself upright, and he put his hand on my back to steady me.
"I'm sorry, that was my fault," I said, finally looking up.
The man frowned at me. "Obviously," he said, his voice smooth and cold. I felt my face flush and realized that I was standing incredibly close to an... incredibly handsome man. His black hair was slicked back, showing his sharp, pale face. His eyes were blue, but with flecks of green peeping out from time to time. I stepped to the side and cleared my throat.
"Oh, um..." I could feel my face burning as I looked up at him. My word he was tall! "I'll, uh, I'll go now," I said, mounting the second flight of stairs. I took the steps two at a time and tried to stop blushing.
Well, there's my embarrassing moment of the day.
Suddenly a scream rang out from below. I grasped the railing and looked down to see the man I had bumped into pulling the speaker over towards the altar.
"What in the world?" I muttered as I raced down the stairs. A guard lay on the ground, unconscious, blood running from his nose. I knelt down to help him when more screams rang out. I looked up and saw that the man had thrown the speaker onto the altar. He pulled out a strange device that began to glow and whir. Suddenly he thrust it into the speaker's eye. The speaker began to scream horribly and thrash about, while everyone else ran toward the doors.
This was going to be an interesting day.
