Even Closer....

We made our way down, deeper into the subway tunnels. Jayden turns on the lights as we walk, and every eerie noise that you could ever hear is heard. I notice that Missy jumps at every sound, and she's visibly shaking. I'm really starting to worry about her... I think. She looks at me and grins reassuringly.

"How soon will we get to the subway cars?" I ask. "Just one more mile, then I can turn on the electricity." Jayden looks at me, then at the ground. "How did you learn to control these things? Anais has a hard time even touching me." I question curiously. "I wasn't able to right away, but over the years I had a lot of practice. I noticed that as I walked by certain cars, the cables would spark. One day I decided I'd try to drive one, and so I walked on to the car, and concentrated really hard. It only moved two feet, but that showed me that I could do it." He explains sheepishly.

"Look! I see a car!" Missy exclaims. She runs toward it and we follow her, she comes to a stop. She continues to stare at the car that is merely 10 feet in front of her. She then looks at me and walks toward it.

She then looks at me and walks toward it

"Well come on!" She yells jokingly. A gust of wind comes through the tunnels and blows her dirty, matted hair around. My own ginger curls try to resist, but they move with the wind is well. I notice that there is some blood coated on one of the strands, and I try to get it out. "Missy, wait up!" I call. She peeks her head inside of the car, and heads inside.

We all climb on to the car after her, and we take a look around. "You know, for being abandoned, this is actually kind of nice." Missy states. We all laugh, and we continue to look around. "I'm going to go to the driver car, and get this thing started." He informs us. Anais nods, I smile, and Missy shrugs. "I guess we'll see you when you get back then?" I ask. He smiles, nods, then disappears into a white mist.

"Glad that's out of the way, now, where should I sit?" Missy talks to herself. The car jolts, then slowly speeds up until we're going a good speed. Missy looks out the window quick, then lets out a sigh. She pokes around the car, looking for the 'perfect' seat. Eventually she finds one that she deems suitable, then she sits.

She seems to be restless, and can't sit still. I go and sit in the aisle across from her, and she continues to look out the window. I lay my head back, and close my eyes. Every bump of the tracks makes my head bounce against the seat, rhythmically. I slowly drift off to the first dreamless sleep I've had in a long time.
