The Reaping

CHAPTER 1

I stand there in the crowd watch as Holly climbs on the stage "Welcome everyone and May the Odds be Ever in Your Favor" her voice booms around the streets. I watch Mayor Gilbert sit down on one of the stools and watch Mags sit on the other one. "Now it is time to select one boy and girl to represent your district in the 65th annual Hunger Games." I watch Holly walk towards the two bowls "Now girls first" and I'm panicking like i do every year I know my name is there in the boys bowl, my name one three papers. Then she announces the female tribute but I'm so tensed i don't hear who it is but I watch as the crowd part and watch a girl of only 12 make her way up to the stage, I don't really know her but i feel sad fo her, and then the Boys name is called out I'm looking around to find out who it is not hearing it again, but This time I don't find the crowd parting to my sides instead i find them parting in front of me and I know who is the Male tribute now, Me, Finnick Odair, I walk up to the stage trying not to loose control of myself. When I reach the top i hear Holly talk about the games as usual but i don't pay attention to it instead i search for my family and find them sobbing at the back of the crowd I watch as they look into my eyes and think the same thing that they are i might never see District 4 or my family again.

After Holly finishes speaking we are rushed into the justice Building , its more fancy than our usual houses but not all that great. I sit there waiting and then the door in front of my opens there stands a my family, we don't talk much we just sit there hugging each other till the peacekeepers take them away. But my next visitor is a very surprising one its Annie Cresta, a girl who lives close to my house and comes to the beach with her parents everyday but no one knows why, all she does is sit there and stare into the sea, she comes up to me and sits by my side patting my back and squeezing my hand. It feels like only a minute has passed and the peacekeepers take her away.

So I sit there and wait till they come back for me and take me to the train station. As we exit the Justice Building we get swarmed by cameras but enter a car immediately. We reach the station in a minute and are hurried into the trains. And as we do so, I feel sick as this might be the last time I see this place.
