Gavin wasn't in the next day, or the day after that. Though I told myself I wouldn't, and I was just being silly-Perhaps I'd caught a cold-I was a bit worried for him. Had those two slimy gorillas actually managed to hurt him badly? I didn't want to think about him, about how he could potentially be in pain...But I did anyway. Ugh. Of all people, I was worried about my own personal stalker.
Nothing very thrilling happened that day either. Though the blonde bitch queen enjoyed sending me many a sour look, she didn't approach me, and neither did any of her cronies. Percy was out with a supposed head cold, though I knew she wasn't really sick. Just skipping, again. Tobey was as sassy ever, but without his direct partner in crime, he kept trying to rope me into what the pair would normally do. Fun.
By the end of the day I had to forcefully detach the boy from my legs, yelling at him all the while that no, I did not want to go shower the bazillion girls currently in the bathroom with a mix of tampons and condoms, I just wanted to go home. It took five minutes of hard-core running, coupled with many nooks and crannies for hiding, before I finally lost the guy.
Thankfully, I'd already had my backpack on me at that point, so I was able to find the closest exit and just leave. By the time I reached my house, my attention was focused purely on my phone. Therefore, I wasn't aware of the two bodies on my porch until I tripped right over them. With a wild screech, I fell dramatically, only to be caught by a pair of strong arms. Percy. She pushed me right back up onto my feet, back on the pavement in front of the stairs.
I pocketed my phone, flushing a bit. "Uh, hi guys." Glaring at me were, of course, Percy, and-Oh, wow. Gavin's face was so busted up, it was hard to tell it was him at all. It hadn't looked nearly as bad a few days ago-Just how badly had they hurt him? I immediately grabbed him by the sides of his head, being careful of the glaring bruises, and twisted his head back in forth in order to get a better look at his temples and sides of his neck.
Percy looked utterly confused, while Gavin was flushing, though I wasn't really aware of that part. "Um...Angel?"
"Shut up, Percy." I snapped in reply, but let go of the boy anyway, straightening back up.
"Why are you two here?" She scratched the back of her neck, chuckling nervously. "Uh, well, about that..." I raised an eyebrow. "Percy and I spent the day hanging around town, and when she heard I hadn't seen any of the Harry Potter movies yet, she kiiiiiiinda flipped out. She dragged me over here because, apparently, you have them all."
I glared at Percy. "You skipped school to sit on my porch for movies?" I smacked myself on the forehead at her perky, slightly stupid reply. "Yup!" "Why?" I asked through my fingers.
"Because anyone who hasn't experienced the amazing, fantastical, magical works of J.K. Rowling via the screen is being severely deprived."
I laughed, stepping around them as to unlock the front door. If my demon stepmother was following her usual demon schedule, she wouldn't be home for a good half hour. By then I could have these two losers set up in my room with a laptop for crotch cancer, a giant bowl of popcorn, and enough coke to fuel up an army. Then, what with the door locked, we could have hours of uninterrupted Potterhead fandom time.
From what I caught of their conversation in the living room while I rummaged around in the kitchen for the stated food items, Gavin had read the books, but hadn't seen the movies, something Percy found to be despicable.
"...But isn't the book always better than the movie anyway!?"
"Well, sure, but you still need to see them! It's practically a law."
"Yeah, sure."
"Potterheads all over the world would have a heart attack, hearing you put the movies down so easily. This is one of the few situations where the movies actually have a fighting chance to be better than the books, y'know? They're legendary."
