Blood. Everywhere. Violet and Mustard Yellow, scattered all about the small apartment. Two aliens lay in the middle, bleeding, breathing heavily. The violet blood was from the royal, Eridan. The mustard from Sollux, a peasant. Eridan's intestines were sprawled out from within his cavity. He was dying. Sollux's eyes were missing, a heavy flow of yellow blood replacing them. And lying just beside them was the love of their lives, Feferi. The two had fallen in love with the girl. The peasant won her heart. While the two were slowly dying, they discussed their lives so far.

"D-do you remember when w-we first met?" Eridan's eyelids were heavy.
"Heh, yeah, I do," Sollux whispered. The two were tired.

Suddenly, a sob wrenched from Eridan.

"Sol," Eridan's insides began to throb as he shook, "I'm so scared. I don't want to die, not like this, not so young."

Sollux chuckled grimly, "Me either, ED. But I guess our time has come." Eridan slowly smiled through the tears as he heard the lisp.

"Sol?"

"Yeah, Eridan?" At first, Eridan was shocked. Sollux never used his full name. Through the pain, shock, and tears, he continued.

"I'm so sorry." At these words, Sollux's chest felt tight. Though he had no eyes, tears began to mix with the blood. He wondered how it came to this, why, and how would they have ended up if things were different?

"Me too, Eridan."

Eridan's breath was shaky. He thought he felt himself slipping away. The boy lost the feeling in his legs long ago, but the pain he still felt was unbearable.

"Sollux," Eridan gasped quietly, "I really am sorry."

"For what?"

"For never telling you how I felt. Maybe we could have been best friends, or even more, but I was blind."
"Wow, Eridan. Worst timing to use that phrase. But to be fair, we both were, and yeah. Maybe we could have been more." Sollux turned his head towards Eridan's voice, wishing that for just one more moment he could have his vision restored so he could see his dying companion.
"There's still time, we can make things right," Eridan's voice shook, but held a new emotion. One he had abandoned years ago. Hope. "Maybe, before we go, we can patch things up?"

"Sure, we can try." Sollux tried to give a smirk, but it quickly collapsed into a grimace. The pain in his eyes was so terrible, it took all his willpower not to scream.
"I forgive you, Sollux." Eridan whispered.

"I forgive you too, Eridan." Sollux shook with fear, regret, and sorrow as he remembered how close to death.

"I loved you, ya know," Eridan admitted. Sollux let out a small wail as he disclosed, "I loved you too, didn't stop."
Eridan choked as he felt Sollux's hand. Sollux was groping around for his companion's hand.

The two lay in the dark, feeling each other's soul slowly leaving each other as they faded away. Eridan blinked one last time, looking over to Sollux's bloody face.
"I love you, see you later," But Sollux was already dead.
"Goodbye, Sol."
