The bell rang to warn the students to get to their first period class before the next ring. Walking into the classroom the teacher instantly interacted with Irene and Maria.
"Hello, Ms. Francisco I hope you will be better student this year than last," insisted the teacher. Her name was Ms. Peters, she seems sweet with her blonde hair, brown eyes, and freckled face, but inside the beautiful shell was a horror story. People that know her call her "devil bitch". She gives students a hard time for no reason. Yet there is one student she does like, and that's Irene.
"Oh, yes Ms. Peters," vowed Maria, "this year will be the best one ever, I ensure you" Ms. Peters up and down Maria assuming she meant it in a bad way. Irene stepped in to stop the stares.
"Hello, Ms. Peters," pronounced Irene, "how are you doing today? I can't wait for class to start."
"So am I, Irene," grinded Ms. Peters, "I'm so glad you are in my class again this year" The bell rang for the students to sit down and for the teachers to start teaching. "Everyone sit down and be quiet!" After 45 minutes of Ms. Peters talking on and on about how hard this class is going to be, she gave the class six pages of homework that's due the next day, the bell rang to release us from her claws of terror.
"The day is just starting off fantastically great" sneered Maria walking off with Irene to their next class. The day felt so slow, advanced French was a torture you could barely understand her, advanced physic was a snooze fest, then the duo separated; Irene had fun in animal studies and Maria loved advance art, advanced literature was boring, and in research they were given a project that is due at the end of the school year.
The final bell rang; Maria and Irene ran out of the class, into Irene's car and drove to Maria's house. They went to pick up the last things for Maria for the dorm. Maria's mom was at work so they were home alone, so they thought. Maria's big brother, Aaron was sitting on the couch being his lazy self.
"I thought you had a place that you live on your own, so you wouldn't be here anymore" said Maria. Aaron glanced at his sister and a smiled appeared on his face.
"Sup, little sis," Aaron got up from the couch and gave her a good big brother hug, "it's so good to see you, you look so grown up are you sure you are my Maria."
"Yes, I am you're just too blind to see it," muffled Maria through his tan wool sweater. Even though with the smell of her brother's greasy brown hair, she squeezed him tight with all her might, "so, what are you really doing here, Aaron?"
"Well," started Aaron, but he took a brief breath before telling the rest, "I'm here because I made a rearranged, so I could stay here for your last year of high school. All I have to do is to do extra credit with helping your school out with teaching."A bolt of terrified nerves ran through Maria's body.
"Wait," raising up her hand, "what will you be teaching?" she asked
"Nothing of your concern," reaching into his schoolbag searching for his scheduled, "I will be teaching... advanced literature, so like I said none of your concern,"
"Actually it is my concern because I'm taking that class," shrieked Maria. The blood rushed to her head almost making her faint.
"You're joking, right? Irene she's joking right?" said Aaron while the grin on his face faded away. Irene slightly waved her head side to side to signal him no, she's not kidding. "Oh my gosh, you're not joking, how is this possible? Did my little sister finally grow a brain?" He continually poked at her head. Maria then shoved him off her.
"No, mom forced me to take the same classes as Irene, so you know I won't be graduating this year" said Maria sarcastically.
"That's harsh, but at least I will be able to help you at your worst subject English which should be easy for someone who speaks it," giggled Aaron. The conversation continued on and on until it was time to go. The girls said goodbye to Aaron and they would see him again.
Their dorm was filled with pictures of them all over the campus. This place was a second home to them because that's where they lived for the school year. This was a private school; only the selected few could go. Obviously, Irene was welcomed to this school, but in Maria's case, she was only there because of her talent of drawing. Since the first week of school Maria and Irene were best friends.
It all started with them both arriving at the same time, same place, but with different agendas. Irene was one of the smartest girls here; her mission was to do excellent work and begin her dream job as a veterinarian. Maria was the "troubled girl at school" cliché; her mission was to get through school and leave this little town and draw to her heart's delight. The two instantly met each other in line; well, it wasn't quite that simple; they just glanced at each other once. But, when it came to the dorm situation they finally converse among themselves. They instantaneously fell their way into a great friendship. Irene liked how Maria was so spontaneous, wild, and rebellious. And Maria liked how Irene was friendly, caring, and kind to everyone.
After three years of Maria's shenanigans, their arguments, and Irene's studying habits; they are still friends today.~~~~~~~
