It's almost the end of the school year, almost a few days away before I get to have a good time sleep without waking up early.

"Take care, Lucy." My dad kissed me on my forehead.

"Take care too, dad." I smiled at him back then opened the car's door. When I'm about to shut the car's door, "Oh, and I'm not gonna fetch you later on, so better get home early."

"Yeah, sure." I closed the door, and as I stood, I watched my dad drive away. It's almost time so I rushed straight to the main hallway.

I'm not in a mood today for anything. I just want to go home and take a good nap. But yeah, I can't cut classes today, because there will be consequences. Two more unexcused absences, well, hello community service.

I went into my locker and took out my Greek mythology book. Today's our final reporting in literature. We have to finish papers just to pass this school year. As always, every subject has their requirements.

As I got into class, it felt quite different inside. It wasn't too loud like the normal morning days. All I can see are people chatting, murmuring, in a low volume.

When I sat on my desk, ready to take a quick nap, Ellie Young, a good friend of mine, approached me. "Hey, have you heard the news?"

"Nope. Wait, what news?" I straightened my back from my ready-to-take-a-quick-nap position, although my sleepiness went away cause of her loud voice.

"Hmm, let's see, don't you notice anything weird in class, like now?".

I looked around, nothing seemed strange, well, except for the faces of my classmates, as if something bad happened.

"Nope, I don't see anything strange or weird. Just tell me about it."

I don't want to mention 'bout the faces I see, I just want her to tell me right away.

"Well, how about this, have you seen Sophia before coming here?"

Sophia Walker, I know her very well. She's the early bird in our class, from going to school, submitting her projects, everything. She has a smooth, long, strawberry-blonde hair. She's smart, talented, but somehow, the loner in class.

She doesn't have quite a lot of friends, only a few, but she has a boyfriend, Ethan Parker.

Wait, no, her ex-boyfriend. They recently broke up, like two weeks ago.

"Nope, I didn't see her before I got here."

Well, it is weird. She is always first in class, the early bird. Maybe she's sick or something.

Or maybe, something worse. Did something bad happen? Is she the reason behind this weird atmosphere I'm in right now?

"You know why? Cause the whole class knows why," Ellie said, in a strange tone.

Gosh, she's giving me goosebumps. Why won't she tell me now? "Ellie, you're scaring me, just tell me, geez."

Ellie went straight into my right ear slowly, and whispered,

"She's gone. Sophia's dead."

"No way. You've got to be kidding me. When did it happen?" My eyes widen, how she could be dead?

"Just last night, she was in a car accident. Many people found her car went on fire after crashing into a nearby stop sign."

"That's horrible," I said. I'm not that close to her, but I feel heavy inside. Am I feeling guilty?
