First Night Part 2

Matt looked to his side to Sean's seat in confusion, and stood up. He walked to Sean's room and saw something his exploring mind had perceived to be horrifying. The light in Sean's room were flashing, on and off, without any noise, not from the switch going on and off, not from Sean touching the switch, not even from Sean breathing. As Matt saw the blinking light under the closed door, he contemplated just leaving Sean be. He thought maybe Sean's bulb is faulty and maybe Sean doesn't want to be disturbed or asked about the previous incident. Matt walked instead to the room next to Sean's. The bathroom, he went in, he placed his phone on the sink's counter whilst commanding it to play the loudest music he had and lit a cigarette. He started pacing around back and forth in the bathroom until he caught a flash of his own face in the mirror. He stopped and took a drag. His hand started shaking whilst he had the cigarette in his mouth. He ended up coughing, loudly. Incidentally, the song that was being played had ended just then, and was on the course of going to the next song, but.. there was a silence in between. ''Is everything copacetic?'' he heard an unfamiliar voice say, and he could somehow feel that this person was as close to the other side of the door as the handle itself. Forcefully assuming it was Sean, he replied ''yes''. Matt took his time to go out, not that he looked calm, he still looked terrified, but he took his time. The smoke of two more cigarettes filled his lungs before the music had stopped completely. By then, Matt looked refreshed, normal...copacetic. He opened the door with clenched fists, and with eyes expecting horror. He walked to his room looking for anything abnormal around the house upstairs. He found nothing. Sean's lights were off. The game room's light was on, as it was left, and the same for his own room's light. He had noticed only one thing in his room that was wrong, his door wedge was not stopping the door. He made nothing of that. He proceeded to the games room. He looked at the screen, stared at it for a few seconds, and turned it off, then turned off the lights and went back to his room. It was now four o'clock in the morning. Once in his room, he did the usual, he connected his phone to his charger beside his bed, turned off the lights and threw himself onto the bed. It was a cold morning, though Matt seemed to enjoy that in the past, he resented it at that moment. He pulled up the sheets and rolled around in it, cocooning himself and closed his eyes. The sound of trees and wind seemed started to stand out. Matt threw his hand to his right in the direction of his phone, but could not reach. ''ugh fuck it, I can sleep through this, as I always have'' he said to himself. He closed his eyes once more.
