Wings of Peace

Chapter 1: the Challenge

Storm woke to Jay right in her face,"come on sleepy head! Wake up! You don't want to miss the first day of the challenges do you?"

    "Fine I will get up, just because the challenges are cool, and I am ready to fly!" As Storm said this she ran to her Flight WIndow and jumped out.

    Storm loved flying she was one of the fastest CloudWings and she felt safe and free in the sky, until her mother found her. She flew all the way to the Island of RainWings, and with her wings so big she could get there fast with out using a lot of energy.

    Jay caught up to her as she flew over the ocean, his armor shining in the morning sun and his necklace... Wait where was his necklace? They flew over the gate that kept the RainWings on their island and to the big tree in the center of the rain forest.

    When Storm landed, she turned to Jay,"where is your necklace?"

    Jay looked at her then reached into a pouch and pulled out his necklace,"I still have it, but some dragonets broke the chain."

    Storm looked at Jay confused,"I thought that chain was strong enough that it wouldn't break in battle?"

    Jay started laughing,"ha! You fell for it! Ha!"

    She looked at Jay then turned and flew up to where the royals sat.

    "So I see your boyfriend tricked you."

    Storm turned and saw it was her older sister, Cloud, who was in line for the throne. She rolled her eyes and sat down in her throne.

    Cloud came up to her and right in her face said,"Jay and Storm flying in the sky k-i-s-s-i-n-g!"

    Storm shot her sister a look of hatred as Cloud made a heart with her talons.

    "Stop it Cloud! Jay is not my boyfriend and I don't like him!,"Storm grumbled to Cloud as Jay landed behind her.

    "So what is this about you and I liking each other?"

    Storm whipped around,"Jay! Heh,heh....you are here....right now..."Her face was in a stupid grin, why do I care about what Jay thinks? I don't like him! He is my guard, it would just be weird to like him.

    But still as the first game began, jungle flight and she watched a CloudWing dragonet take off and fly away with the other competitors. She couldn't get the thought out of her head, do I like Jay?

    The crowd cheering woke her up, she sat up and saw the first racer come across the finish line, which was.... An ElctroWing, or a RainWing? What?

    "And first place is Blossom of the RainWings!" Storm rolled her eyes, why is the Queen Splendor of the RainWings talking into a coconut?

Storm ignored what she said next and leaned over to Jay,"do you think I can compete in an event?"

Jay shook his head, his helmet catching the sun and shining it into Storm's eyes,"I am sorry Storm, but you are not part of the town and not hatched to be queen. And the rules say only a royal or a dragon part of the town can compete, unless their queen says otherwise."

Storm looked at him, her mouth closed in a small frown,"so I am a dragon hopelessly in between? And while I watch my sister compete while I can't! Who made these rules?" She turned away from Jay and opened her wings then took off.

Storm flew away from the challenge, hoping the wind would blow what Jay said away like the clouds. Before she knew it she was flying over a sea of green, the wind shaking the leaves, making the tops look like waves of the ocean.
