Oh the wonders of boredom
Of lying down in bed, staring blankly at the ceiling. Considering trying to actually keep your feet under the covers, or whether to just leave them there. Putting yourself at risk of the sniffling shivers.
It's not really that cold, you just think it is, because it's not warm. Not your fault though, however much you try, your duvet never manages to keep you sufficiently warm. Either to cold or to hot.
But enough of that.
You suddenly find yourself humming along to that song on your iPod that you never realised you had. Nor did you ever like.
All the same though, you're tired and deprived of amusement. However much you try, sleep just will not come. Your brain is just to excited to learn something new, as you do everyday. Apparently.
Seriously though, why is it that when people actually say that, you already know whatever the person who said that thought they had just taught you? It's almost as if they do it just to annoy you. Because it does, when you think about it. It makes you think:
"Now are you really going to go there? Do you think I look that stupid that you need to tell me whether I've learnt something new or not?"
Then you smile to yourself when they look completely confussled, followed by apologetic, then confussled again.
But do you feel guilty for laughing at their expense? Right down in your gut? The deepest you will ever be?
Don't you cry though, even if you do feel the guilt and want to relieve it from biting and cursing your soul for the rest of the eternity, DON'T! It is not necessary. You wanted it to happen so don't deny it. Turn those negative feelings and flip them like a pancake in a pan so that now they're upside down. Let the otherside breathe for a bit. Keep negativity away from the spotlight, let it get burnt for all you care. Take it all in your stride. Poke your chin up and push your chest out. Show who's the boss. Watch them shiver in fear as they seem to shrink. They don't actually change size or anything, you just grow in personality. That's your chance, don't mess it up, people do judge you sometimes. Possibly now, possibly not.
So when they quiver a bit more violantly than you ever thought was possible for such a small person, and reply to your question:
"No, no! You misunderstood, I was merely saying that to give me some sense of self accomplishment. I need that when standing and having the honour to speak to someone such as yourself."
Wait for them to readjust themselves from curtseying or bowing and snap back in response: "Yes exactly what I thought. And just for the record, I decide whether I learn something new or not. And just between you and me, I weren't listening to you."
Then you can safely walk away on your high horse with your reputation still intact.
Oh yeah,
You also learnt something new
Told you you always learn something new everyday!
and all that because i was bored
