48 hours 17 minutes and 49 seconds. 48… 47… 46… and so on. I’m ready. I know I am. I can feel it. True love is just out of reach. At first I didn’t know what it was, but now i’m older. The clear, green boardered tatoo like symbol, that keeps on ticking down. The moment we find our soul mates for life.
04 hours 06 minutes and 13 seconds. 12… 11… 10… So close… The bell rings. 14 is a good age I keep on telling myself even though I know it is a little young, but life shouldn’t expect me to wait, Now should it?
00 hours 32 minutes 29 seconds 28… 27… 26… I’m so eager, so excited, I feel like I’m going to scream. Butterflies in my stomach, my legs are shaking and i’m just so… Nervous! I have to tell myself that they are never going to come or that they are going to miss it or something in order to get myself to calm down. It’s fifth period. Someone. In this very classroom, in which I am standing, is my future soulmate. My true love.
00 hours 02 minutes 22 seconds. 21… 20… 19…. I feel the nerve to get up. I do. My tablemates give me a smirk. They know what is going on. I walk towards the pencil sharpener. No one yet. I can feel my face turning bright red. I keep on searching and searching. Looking around. Nothing… Nothing… Then suddenly I look at my wrist… 00 hours 00 minutes 00 seconds. This is it.
The Future
Right now it’s my best friend and I. Her wrist reads 00 hours 12 minutes and 54 seconds. 53… 52… 51… She’s 18. She deserves this. We are getting ready for school together. We ate breakfast and we are ready to go. We walk outside. I glance at her and automatically know that she was feeling the same thing that I was. What now…. Our exact feelings. We walk out to the bus stop and sit on the bench to wait.
00 hours 00 minutes 8 seconds… 7… 6… 5…. The bus pulls up. I get on first. She stops for a second to look around. I don’t blame her. It’s exciting. An adventure. We show the driver our passes and we each take a seat in an empty slot. Mine infront of hers.
00 hours 00 minutes 00 seconds
Oh no. Where is he? Maybe he is just running late. Suddenly the bus doors close. My heart starts pounding fast. Please dont let this happen. Not to her. Then a boy runs around the corner yelling to wait! The bus driver opens the doors again and tells him to get on we are already running late. “Well, good because I can’t be late to meeting my one true love!” he jokes. I turn around and I can see my best friend smiling to ear to ear. She scoots over and he plops down next to her. I can’t wait to hear what kind of converstions their are about to have. Then I set my backpack down next to me and turn my wrist over. Hot tears start streaming down my cheeks. Silently weeping. Violently scratching at the marked 00 hours 00 minutes and 00 seconds. Trapped time. Lost love. And a broken heart. Because not everyone has a soulmate to wait for.
