Hide and Seek

WE STEPPED THROUGH the door, and was welcomed with a pallete of inviting light browns and darkened beiges. To my left, a small entryway led into the kitchen where the sunlight crept warily. Straight ahead was the living room, where a typical couch and television were in place. I immediately heard the booming bark of Iris's dog, Buddy.

Iris and I took the flight of wooden stairs which led to the bedrooms on the second floor. We walked into her room, one that consisted of an abundance of band posters and books. This is why she's one of my best friends.

"Hey, sis." I turned around, only to be greeted with a face, much like Iris's, but also one of complete and utter contrast.

"Hey, Vi. What's up?" Iris replied to her sister, Violet. Iris and Violet are twins - fraternal twins, though. She was short, like Iris, but that's where the similarties ended. Violet had dark brown hair that - at the moment - was woven into a braid and tossed over her left shoulder. Her bangs hung like drapes on her forehead.
