There was once a land quite different from our own, that was magically divided into two parts. One was called Day and the other Night. These two parts were separated by both space and time. Day was equally  ruled  by the light king James and queen Amaira, who lead their people into a glorious golden empire, and were at peace with the Night. They, however, also believed that the Night and the people of the darkness were to be feared, that that kingdom was filled only with murderers and thieves. It was a kingdom that was ruled by a king who never showed his face even to his own subjects, and a queen who was believed to be a dangerous sorceress. In fact, the only true reason these two kingdoms were at peace with each other, was that the magic separating the two kingdoms was a force to be reckoned with. Because of this magic, the people of the Night could not be touched by sunlight without being turned to dust, and the people of the day would turn to stone if the moonbeams of the night, even in the darkness of the new moon, were to fall upon them.

One night however, there was an attack on the people of the Night. These soldiers wore silver armour and their weapons had the light's seal embedded into the very metal. They destroyed most of the city. Raphael, head of the dark king's army, barely escaped with his life and that of the queen' s newborn daughter. The entire kingdom was laid to ruins and the queen died honorably amongst her own people, whilst the king was never seen or heard from.

Queen Amaira and king James were oblivious to the attack and were outraged to find that their armory had been broken into. They exclaimed that it could not be them, though, because of the magic keeping them from even opening a window to look upon the night, but swore to raise the dark queen' s daughter along with their own until she was old enough to claim the throne.

The two princesses became not only sisters, but best friends, and grew up into two beautiful, strong young women, completely oblivious to the dangers that are yet to come...
