Dalton's pov
The constant sound of people walking and doors opening and closing pounded in my ears. Cherilyn's squeals only added to the headache that was forming in my head.It was somewhere around two o'clock, I stopped checking my phone about an hour ago. I just listened to the constant whispers and shouts from people passing by. I could care less if I looked stupid half-slouched over with a two year old sitting in my lap.
I'm not allowed in the room without a family member, technically Cherilyn counts, but since she can barely speak they will not count her. I tried peeking in the room a few times, I only got a glimpse of Arabella before a nurse shooed me away. I guess I'll have to sit in this uncomfortable cheap plastic chair that has the paint chipping off until they get here.
The only thing that is keeping me from going insane is the tiny blonde-headed toddler sitting in my lap, playing on my phone. I have to stay calm for her sake. I don't think me screaming my head off is gonna make the situation any better. She's probably already scared enough as it is, she doesn't need me to add it, but if I had a choice I would give that nurse a piece of my mind. The nurses won't even tell me what happened, believe me I tried. Apparently my twenty dollar bill isn't enough to break their confidentiality. Stupid rule!
I'm broken from my thoughts, when I hear loud footsteps thudding in my direction. I lift my head from the floor and meet a pair of squinted hazel-eyes, that oddly look identical to Arabella's. The man is at least six foot, muscles bulging through his tight black shirt, and has slightly wavy-curly raven-hair laying across his forehead. His arms are folded across his chest as he stares at me with hardened-eyes.
Two guys stand behind him, both slightly shorter but still at least six feet tall. One of them has blonde-hair pushed back and vibrant green-eyes, while the other also has pushed back hair but it's dark brown almost black, and his eyes are more of a sea-green, like mine but more vibrant.
"Why are you holding my baby sister," the tallest one grunts, growling at the end."She's your baby sister," I ask looking from him to Cherilyn and back.
"Yes," he grunts snatching her up quickly, but carefully. "Dakota, hold her for a minute," He says before placing her in the blonde's arms.
If Cherilyn is his baby sister, then he must be Alessio, Arabella's fraternal twin. She was right they do look a lot alike expect for his obvious tallness and she obvious shortness. She definitely didn't get the tall gene in the family.
Her turns back to me, before quickly grabbing me by the collar of my shirt and yanking me to my feet. He lowers his head to mine, glaring at me with his hazel eyes, still having a strong grip on my collar. "Why are you holding my baby sister," He growls, gritting his teeth. He definitely isn't someone I would want to upset, but it looks like I already have, accidentally.
"Can you please let go of me, then we can talk this out peacefully," I ask calmly, well as calm as you can when the hulk is holding you by the collar.
"Fine," he spits out angrily, releasing me collar. I fix my shirt before stepping back from Alessio. "Now why did you have my baby sister," He asks still angrily but less than before. Go me! I calmed the hulk, I mean Alessio.
"I was hanging out with Arabella-" I start to say before Alessio cut me off.
"Why were you 'hanging out' with my twin," He asks getting angrily.
"Because we're friends... I think" I answer, awkwardly rubbing the back of my neck.
"The only friends she has if Axel, Dakota, and I. Why are you lying," He asks gruffly, as he gestures to the three of them.
Is she really friends with a couple of angry, grumpy, scary teenage boys? Wait a second, she only has three friends? I thought she would be a popular kid. I mean she's nice and friendly.
"I-I'm not ly-lying. I promise. We're at the park and s-she went to the bathroom. She didn't come back, s-so I took Cherilyn to look for her. I-I found her in the bathroom stall passed out," I explained while stuttering.
"Alessio, give the guy a break," the guy with almost black-hair mumbles quietly, putting his hand on Alessio's shoulders.
"If she's hurt, it's on you," Alessio grumble, stalking past me purposely hitting me in the shoulder.
If I didn't feel guilty before, I sure do now.
